With all that hype done, I'm more wondering why not all the 450 cars already have been sold twice like everyone expected.
I don't think there will be a CSL version, BMW and BMW M have other things to focus on. The 1M was an experiment and it worked very well. So, expect more of that stuff in future. And don't blame BMW if they throw out cars like this on a yearly basis. You people bought it! |

So, to sum up this whole thread, all the M3 contributors who have been feeling the excellent 1M has somehow weed on their fireworks are now celebrating the possible let down of 1M owners by BMW Marketing.
Aren't you lot a happy bunch. |

When the M3 coupe and vert go out next year, guess what's going to come out. DCT 1M or some type of 1M package that's 0.2-0.4 seconds faster. |

1. Just some performance parts add-ons available to all 1M buyers (like the special edition M3s that keep rolling out all over the world). It doesn't make sense for them to engineer in a DCT or retool for a carbon fibre roof given the limited time left in production. Doesn't the regular 1 drop production this year with a slated completion for 1M next year? 2. On the new 1M model for 2nd generation buyers. This will give them time to rework the M3 so that the 1M CSL doesn't trounce the current M3 model (read: need an F30 M3 before you can improve upon the current generation 1M). Just my thoughts. |

I would imagine a convertible version is more likely than a CSL, the current 1 series is nearly finished, a quickly engineered cab version before the production ceases is viable surely, all the parts exist already. Its within the remit of the model, remember the old E30 M3 cab??

this explains why resale on the 1M is weak (check lease rates), because BMW knew they were going to put out the trump in a year....
j/k I honestly don't think a 1M CSL is even in the works. perhaps a 1M GTS, why would BMW pass on M3 CSL then produce 1M CSL, makes no sense

Loving it... and although it would be priced outside of my range (why I went 135i/1 Series M Coupe instead of M3) its still badass... and the probability of picking up a used one down the road,WICKED!

I say we've waited long enough. If you HAVE TO get the 1M CSL.
Take your 1M now and trade it in for the CSL when it gets here. I wonder how awesome it would be if they made one If any BMW deserved a CSL I'd say its this one...M :P |

I don’t get it, aren’t they phasing out the E8x platforms within a year or so? If that’s the case, why would they be making an E82 1M CSL? If they do make one, it’ll probably be a very limited production run and most likely won’t come to the US, especially if it comes with exotic body panels like the CF roof (i.e., costly to certify). But then again, what do I know? At any rate, I won’t be interested if it can't be used as a DD or comes at a premium, with DCT only, or with that hideous GTS-like rear wing

Ah, yes, the coveted E36 M3 CSL. For the same price of an optioned 1M you can pick yourself up a nice 1 of 120 '95 CSL. A better investment perhaps?

I think it's too early for him to mention what they have in store. It might not even make it stateside if one is made. I think this is the way things are with all cars. There will always tend to be a future model that is better, faster, lighter etc etc (then the one you just purchased)... Circle of Life. Or Circle of Car manufacturers if you will....

Are you confirming this rumour now eventhough you told us otherwise previously (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462174)? If so bring it on!

CSL most likely not state-bound... but if for an infinitely small chance that I'm wrong then hell; I might have to buy that too... I cant see giving up the pleasure of driving the 1M on a daily basis (it's been 3 days of absolute BLISS... without the M button engaged!). CSL to be reserved for track days.
