How often do you get your 1er aligned?
When you feel it needs it?
At a certain mileage? When you do something like change the tires? Curious what others are doing? |

I watch my tires. So far only needed it aligned after the front suspension had serious work done to it. It's been over a year since and it's still fine.

I decide every time I get new tires. My 1er has been aligned twice and it only has 8k miles. Both alignments were because of suspension work. My 8year old 3er though I only do if I think it needs it and then only at tire swap. It's going in next weekend. Just bought some re11s for the summer season and the wheel is off a bit so in it goes.

Had mine aligned twice in 3 weeks thanks to the meticulous maintenance of potholes on interstate 75 by the state of GA. Cost me a tire, rim and alignment the first time and a tire and alignment three weeks later.

When the changes I have made to the suspension require it.

I use a tread depth gauge twice a year to check for uneven wear. If tires are wearing evenly and steering wheel is centered then I don't get an alignment. I've gone years and years without an alignment.

I live in NJ...every year.....not fun!
My summer tires were pulling to the left this summer, while my winters were straight...so now i'm worreid that maybe either a tire was bad or....god knows! |

If it started when the tires were switched, you have a tire with a radial pull.

Alignment due to hot potholes is good preventive maintenance but you should first check to see if your control arms were bent. If so, you may not even be able to get alignment into spec and then you're paying for 2 alignments.
