Total Cost & Complete Parts List to Single Turbo your N54!

“How much did it cost to go single turbo?” I get asked this question all the time, so I made a video that answers it. Every penny I spent and a parts list of EVERYTHING you need! I'll include the parts list below, but for a detailed description of why you need certain things, you'll have to watch the video at the bottom.

Here is the video. Yes, it's 20 minutes long. But you can watch at 2x speed if you click the video settings gear icon.

$50K

Would you do it again? (realize that you need more drive time)

$50k included every single modification and maintenance part I've ever done on my car since I bought it.

The single turbo set me back about $7k, and the additional mods (some I already had installed) and maintenance for 700HP set me back another $7-10k.

I would definietely do it again, but without buying all the piddly crap I did for the first two years. Then I went all out on stock turbos. Then I bought MMP Stage 3 hybrid turbos, etc. I've spent a lot on this car (and sold a lot of old parts), but I wouldn't have it any other way. I enjoyed each different setup for different reasons. If I were to do it again, I would go straight to a single turbo, or stay at maxed out stock turbos (which were fast, cheap, and reliable).

Now figure what you're in it with selling the used parts.

I figured you'd say stay stock or go right to single. The basic 'what should I do' everyone is in.
From a complexity standpoint a single makes sense, half the problems and really it's half the cost to upgrade once all the parts are in, basically just need 1 new turbo. It's the only logical long term upgrade.
Problem in my eyes is the fueling side, and partly the tuning side.

I don't have to make any decision until/if my stockers take a dump. And odds are if the y do I'll just do stock replacements and dump the car.

That'd be so much work. I'd say I'm making out pretty well because I've been able to sell a ton of parts towards the top of their value. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm only around $10-15k into the car (not including purchase price of the vehicle).

There are a lot of people making 500whp at 17-18psi on 93 octane with the Doc Race kit and very minimal mods. Pretty awesome.
