Sadly cams are expensive according to the few sources.

I wouldnt rule them out so fast. I piped mine out on the 135 and the drivers side secondary cat was partially clogged. the better the flow...

But that's exacty what i said - do the full thing properly and you'll see real gains Ed: the only aftermarket cams i found were 4k in a full kit with exhaust and tune - i sent them an email asking about the price of cams alone - no response.. If you could get a set of oem cams to a machine shop it probably wouldn't be too bad to get them to recreate them in a larger profile (not too much, just enough to raise the rev range a bit without making low range super lumpy) |

And they push the power into a RPM range that isn't that useful or desirable for a long term DD.
I'm not saying it won't do anything, just talking about where they stand compared to the primaries. Also, a broken cat is a broken cat.

no codes.
Codes come when you remove primary cat.

I'm probably as excited for the dyno after the tune as you are. If it gains what they say I'll have to see if it'll do anything for my n51.

there are 2 times where the dyno graph drops down, is that due to the DISA(around 3.25 and 4.25 rpm)? The first one you have posted seems more linear and smooth, hopefully evolve will fix that on yours ! Looks great!

image 2 is with DISA & no tune. An un-tuned DISA manifold has those 2 dips. the AA tune is known to smooth things out nice and make it more linear. Evolve, based on dyno pictures that I saw, seems to do all that AA does, plus it adds more in the top end. I guess I will know soon enough how it works on the 128i, quite excited to see the Net gains. My only real concern is 93 octane vs 91. Here we have mainly 91 octane: Shell vpower (91 no ethanol = apparently close to 92 octane) & PetroCanada (91 + additives = "94" octane)

Thanks for the dyno Andrey - great info. The sharp drop in hp from 6500 rpm with the 3-stage vs non DISA (no tune) reflects what I have felt with mine, which feels almost as if the rev limiter has cut in early. (I only have ~ 150km on the manifold.)

Are those the points where the DISA flaps open?
My e46 had a 2-stage intake and It always felt like the engine 'hiccuped' briefly when it switched over. My dealer went through the whole PUMA case thing of shipping it to BMWNA for an update, and that improved it but it never went away completely. |

Yes those are Disa opening. It doesn't feel like a hiccup, I do notice a surge of power.
Hope that the tune will make it more linear.

Thanks for sharing your info. I'm interested what kinda of numbers you'll get with the tune. Been reading your post lately and was interested before in doing the DISA conversion but sold my manifold. Its a new year so maybe I might change my mind. When i do I might have to hit you up for some advice if i go diy. I always thought you had a the AA tune. Can't wait for the next update.

Yes, look at AA dynos they move that drop to 7k. Also alot of the disa drops in the AA tune are moved fwd by 500 rpm & smoothed out

Evolve and other european tuners make their 125i's match tuned 130i @ about 275-280hp. Keep in mind they have better Gas quality too. Eurocharged mentioned to me that their tune for 328i with DISA, hits a wall at about 255 hp. Will find out soon what Evolve means in my 128i /// Aside:It appears im near e36 m3 power levels when looking at these e36 dyno's http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...0#post10252330
