INPA cfgdat files
hi all. thanks for all the information in this thread. i am hoping you guys can help with an issue i am having. when i run INPA, everything looks good except the list of chassis were not appearing. after some google searching, i found a thread where someone provided the text for the file INPA.INI that goes in the cfgdat folder. worked like a charm and i can select f9 for E90. but now, i get an error saying E90.ENG cannot be found, which is also supposed to be in the INPA/CFGDAT folder. after some more google searching, apparently, there is supposed to be a bunch of files in the CFGDAT folder which mine does not have. all of my programs were installed by the standard coding tools 2.11 file.
can someone with fully functional INPA please share the files in the INPA/CFGDAT folder with me? Last edited by houtan; 11-25-2013 at 10:58 PM.. |

INPA
Ok, I decided to try ncs expert even though I couldn't get INPA to work and I was able to successfully code window roll up from my key fob! So I think I am going to start trying to code other features.
I would still like to get INPA working properly and would appreciate any help anyone could provide. |

If you speak German it probably also helps since all the words in the software seem to be German. But the bottom line is there is information that will allow you to be successful. But there is not the same sort of helpful chatty forum you find here. You will almost undoubtedly be frustrated at times. But if you keep after it, you can make some changes in your car.

I found all the software and other info but not on that site. Also, the Daten files are huge if you decide to download all of them. I would just do the platform your working on.

HELP!!!! I have killed by car!
Ok I have coding the car many times and felt pretty comfortable with NCSexpert. My 2010 128i was working great and then I thought I would code the mod for triple blink for the turn signals. So I changed the code from wert_01 to wert_02 and wrote the code to the mod. It was successful, no errors. I tried to test the car no function AT ALL from the switch. So I said OK I'll just rewrite the ECU with my backup. I CANT! I tried to communicate with that ECU and I cant. How do I fix this???? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! Have you tried putting the car on a charger? I've read of people having experiences like this when their battery went dead while coding.

Coding software
* Digital Speedometer on Cluster
* Folding mirror while holding lock on remote * Unlock doors when car is turned off... No more double pull on handle needed! I have an E87 2005 and according to cable shack I need a K-line cable but I was wondering which software I should get and where I can get it from as I wanted to code the auto locking feature when driving above apprx 5mph and auto unlock upon key removal and auto headlights when unlocking and locking the car. |

Just use BMWhat. Whatever you pay for it you'll make up in time and frustration getting INPA and NCSexpert set up correctly, not to mention sourcing the correct software.

I've been looking into this myself. Reading threads here and on BMW coding, and e90.. it seemed like a PITA... but this thread has helped a LOT!
I'm interested in doing the following: window rollup from the FOB Digital speed in the dash speed correction Eventually I want to change out the headlight buckets for ones that have angel eyes, and then add HID's in the HL's and fogs. But I do have a question.. Can you do diagnostics with this stuff? I recently installed a new audio system in my car, and apparently pissed off the airbags. Had to take it to the dealer to have that error cleared. $125 later.. ouch! I'd pretty damn tech-savvy, and very mechanically inclined. I'd like to be able to do as much of my own work as possible. I'm probably going to get the cable from one-stop.. Not sure about BMWhat yet. Seems like it's abilities are still a bit limited, but any thoughts, or guidance is appreciated.

I ordered the Wi Fi OBDII dongle off amazon for like 20 bucks then Bucked up and purchased the BMWhat. I coded and everything was extremely user friendly. I looked into short cutting it with other software and messing with the coding, but paying a bit more will make it a hell of alot easier. I got the Wifi OBDII cause they said blue tooth doesnt work with iphones only the wifi. Also was able to code with Ipad or Iphone which was nice.

I've ordered one and it's currently on its way. I'm a bit worried that the communication won't be stable as is the case with other cheap adapters. |

Ironically that is the exact one I purchased. It works great. I got an slim obdII extension and then a splitter for the obdii so I can run my V1 with Savvy as well as the wifi dongle. Works great. only thing is after coding the car remember to "forget" the wifi network otherwise youll always link up to it and never get internet connection in the car. Good Luck!!!

It quickly went tits up though as soon as I tried to open the JBBF ECU to code the washer cycle complete. For some reason it failed the backup every time I tried to access it, complaining about a secure connection. It also wouldn't let me read another ECU but I can't remember the name. It was the last on the list. Did you have any problems accessing JBBF with that adapter? |

I had problems accessing that module with my random cheapo BT adapter I had. Getting the BMWhat brand adapter fixed that issue and made everything work better, which is why I keep suggesting people stop cheaping out on other adapters. Now you need to buy the real one anyway if you want to code that module. With the BMWhat adapter I can code any modules on my car. With a random OBD BT adapter I can code some, if it feels like it. Not worth going cheap here. |

this might have been discussed earlier in this Thread but didn't find it by reading most of it.
Is it possible to have the iPOD/USB as the default device when turning the car on? as of now my Radio is the default and i don't think many people use the radio anymore. thanks for any data. |

Awesome tip for BMWhat users. in the cooling/heating module if you disable the "all" button it turns it into the MUCH more useful "rest" button.
Glad I found that before winter. That was something I really missed from my 3 series. I'll gladly manually match the passenger and driver's temps if it means I can walk back out to a warm car after every stop this winter. |
