I'm gonna do mine every 7.5K miles. I did an initial change at 2K (?), but I'm gonna ignore that to keep the math even. I'll do the 7.5K change, BMW the 15K change, me 22.5K, BMW 30K, etc. So I'll vote "change".

You can NOT change the engine oil too often enough! Whats the worse thing that can happen? Bmw pays again to change your oil for free in a few months. Worse case... they say your car doesn't need one! IF it were me I would change the oil, for my own piece of mind.

I changed mine at 2000 and 10,000 miles, and now I'm waiting on my free one.

I had my oil changed at 1500 miles and have it changed every 7500 miles. And I don’t plan on keeping the car past the warranty period. It must in my DNA.

I do mine every 6 months, one out of pocket one on dealer. This way the millage doesn't matter much. I do 10-12k year max.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you -- car's anniversary is in May, but I'm almost at 7500 now. I figure I'll just do one out of pocket now at 7500 miles, and then have BMW do the freebie one at 12,500 (whenever that rolls around).

I do it around every 7500 miles. Also ask yourself how long you plan on keeping this car. For me, I don't plan on keeping it past 50k or close to it.
