E82 N51 GM trans not going into DS mode

Like the title states. My 128i won't go into DS mode. I took everything on the shifter area off and inspected all of the wires. Nothing is pinched or exposed.

What next?

I have a stored DISA code and an oil level sensor code, but I can't see how they're related. I just wanted to mention it in case there was any connection.

Car feels fine otherwise, I just hate that I can't hold gears for too long or the D mode kicks in and upshifts. Very annoying.

Dug around a little further and I found the white/greyish wire had snapped. Got in there and put it back together, reinforced the others, then put it back together. I took the whole console off and it sucked. Just an FYI.

I reconnected the battery and then got the dreaded exclamation point in the gear. No clue why, but it wouldn't get out of reverse. Read the codes and got the A0B6 code. Googled it and someone showed how to get the locking mech unlatched so I could get into neutral. Started the car from there, cleared the codes, and went for a drive in DS Mode!!!!

I just hope the shifting mech doesn't lock again like that. Seems like a whole big bitch to get back in there and trouble shoot. Transmission work is out of my wheelhouse.

From a glance at your 1st post seemed like it had to be wiring. Glad you got it fixed. It's a common problem although I read somewhere they rerouted the wiring in later model years (my hope so i don't have this fun)

Well, actually, the code is still there. I have a temp work around. Manually move the gear lock then move the shifter down. It's got to be whatever wire controls that part.

SOLVED

If you got here via search it's because there are very few answers on this topic.

Summary-
Issue: lost DS mode
Fix: repair the broken wires (plenty of YouTube vids on this)
Solution: DS Mode restored

New problem: Shift lock not engaging, car won't shift out of park.
Fix: you may have jarred the locking pin from the plastic push rod (no clue what this is called). Put the pin back in the black plastic push rod thing.
Solution: normal shifting, including DS mode restored.

If you get lost, feel free to holler at me. This issue boggled my mind and I only found others online looking for the solution, but no solution posted. So, here it is. Hope it helps.

Cheers,
