New 135i Owner Intro
Hey everyone, just wanted to introduce myself and my new (to me) 2011 135i M-sport. My name is Ted, I live in Gilbert, AZ (near Phoenix), and I have been a car enthusiast since before I could drive. Ihave owned several enthusiast based cars since then. This is my first BMW though and I'm enjoying it quite a bit!
I do have quite a few hours of seat time on both road courses and drag strips with my old 2005 CTS-V (full bolt-ons + nitrous) and 88 Camaro (supercharged 383 stroker). Also have a lot of off road experience with my old 2003 Wrangler Rubicon (all aftermarket down to the frame). There have been 20+ other cars (Audi, Mercedes, Ford, Chrysler, Jeep, Honda, etc., etc., etc.) in there too, but no time today to run through my photo bucket and post them all! Not much in the way of plans for modifying the 1er. If anything it'll get a BMW PPK tune and a quad tip exhaust with fairing. It will definitely get some wheels when the rear rubber on there wears out. At some point I would also like to replace the plastidipped front grilles (previous owner) with some OEM black grilles. This car is going to be a DD while I build out so no need to go "overboard" with this one. The car has 65k on the clock and has had all recalls, campaigns, and common issues already worked over. The previous owner was a tech at the local BMW dealer and the car has an extended warranty on it that has thus far covered everything. I'm also very handy in the garage so if there is anything they won't cover, I should be able to take care of it. This is a photo of the 135i right after bringing it home: and one that I took right after detailing: Looking forward to spending some time on here and hopefully learning some new info about this BMW! Welcome fellow Phoenician! Nice and clean looking ride. Your gonna love her and not want to let go! I belong to the local Road Runner chapter of BMW Car Club and we get together for some pretty nice drives and whatnot if your interested in meeting up with us. Good group of people. The 135 makes a decent little track day car if you want to continue with your road course racing. I do all the track days with Pro Autosport at the local tracks and it's a hoot! Anyway, welcome to the club and let's see how long you can hold off the mod bug!!

Congrats!
Before spending money on the PPK, take a look at MHD.

Thanks! Spent some time today (way too much time) cleaning all the plastidip off the wheels. I like the OEM silver look WAY better. Also did the "golf tee" mod. It's better but at under $750 I'm strongly considering a magnaflow cat back. I have had Magnaflow on all my late model cars and love the sound. I'd much rather have quad tip but not sure I want to deal with cutting the bumper.

Thanks! Looking forward to a meet/drive once it gets a little cooler out! Right now I'm just trying to find someone to borrow a DCAN cable from so I can flash the PPK. Back when I was in the VW world there were always locals willing to help with VagCom for a beer or two.

Flashed the PPK today. All of the N55s definitely should have come like this from the factory. Throttle response is fantastic now and the little added power is nice as well.
Also added a BMS intake for some added sound. Just need to get an intercooler and magnaflow cat-back and the car will be just right. |

To be honest, if I had to guess, when they leaned out the fuel mixture a bit to make more power the popping on decel was an unintended side effect. BMW just took advantage of it and added it to the marketing program for the PPK. Just a guess though. I'm definitely looking forward to the difference in sound with a new exhaust. I love the new sound with the BMS intake. |
