Haha well I will probably get one. As a runabout the Golf is flawless. I had the MkV GTI and regretted getting rid of it. Hence my enthusiasm with this new R. 135i stays though, spent too much money on it already lol.

Not sure if I could go back to a hatch... they just look so plain... Unless it was a daily driver to get to work and back and you had a weekender for fun, I would never buy one. Looks quite nice though, but will always look generic.

I had an mk5 R32 for a few months. Bought it new and took a massive haircut just to sell it and get rid of it. It was a terrible car, I had a pile of warranty issues, right down to having to replace the seatbelts on a brand new car. It had the recaro seats which were painful, it was a heavy pig, and the 6MT made bad noises. Oh... and it was really loud (ricey) and droned on the highway and lacked the speed for all the noise it made. It did however corner well due to AWD.

Also, stay clear of Garry Crick at Maroochydore.

I have to say that I like the R in contrast with the 4-door 1 series..... that being said, would take the 135i coupe over the R.

xsboost... was the R32 the car before your 335i?

R32 sounds ricey? You are obviously not into performance sounding cars! :P

I owned one and can say the noise after the novelty wears off is very irritating and it is way too raspy like a lawn mower. If it had the power and acceleration to match, my opinion would be different

I had one for a year, looooved the sound, maybe mine was different as it had DSG (faster and more economical than the Manual). My only issue was it had little tunability being N/A and I wasn't going down the road with S/C or Tbo. So I sold it and brought an S3.
