Hmm was planning on winter tires this year, but this is FAR more exciting. I second the food rationing for a month (or 3)

Hahaha I'm skipping out on the winter tires too. I figured I can get away with it, it's already mid Jan. Cobb in spring! Hopfully stage 2 maps will be out by then....

Got my accessport today. Weather was pretty bad here today so I did not get a chance to install. I plan on installing on Thursday and will report back my impressions.

I do have a question though.

What is the torque/hp rating on the stock clutch?

A little update for 135i guys. There have been some ROM versions where the cruise control stops working when the AP is installed. If the AP is uninstalled the cruise control works again. I am aware of the issue and will have a fix in the next couple of weeks.

Cheers,
Rob

The guy's at Austin Cobb are very good at what they do. Robb is very meticulous and treaded my car like a surgeon. Yes, its expensive..yes, its new to the BMW tuning world. But, after the numbers I put down I am convinced Cobb is the best choice for people like me who have a stock daily driver and want more without taking any chances of losing the smoothness of the drive. I won't post numbers, as Robb wanted to review the data and will be posting it soon.
You are more than welcome to post the numbers. I have not had a change to load your curves into our dyno database, yet, but I will!

Glad you are enjoying the AP in your freaky powerful car

Cheers,
Rob

135I Stock numbers vs. Stage 1

I figured I'd post my results from the AP on a stock 135i.
The Dyno run was done with Cobb's Mustang Dyno in the Austin location.
Please keep in mind my car is 100% stock other than the tune.
base numbers were 275hp/ 315tq in real world numbers.

after the tune 316hp/390tq
I have video of reaching 400+tq & 340+hp during the tuning portion with Rob. However, these were the numbers settled on for my stage1. In my opinion this car is amazing a putting down gobbs of tq early on. On the average dyno pull, I gained 100+tq threw lower rpm (2000-2450) Attachment 476723

Numbers look good. Just wondering after reading that other guys testimonial, the DTC..when you press it once and the light comes on, does that mean DTC is OFF or ON? Cant believe im still figuring this out, but Ive been driving most of the time with the light on, pressin it everytime i drive think this turns the DTC OFF and therefore not doing the engine kill thing everytime i hit a tiny bit of skid.

I want DTC when its slippery or snowing, but otherwise I dont want the ECU cutting engine power just for a little bit of tire slip. So whats the real verdict, the OM says pressing the button with the light on means its turned ON, so im confused. I know how to turn off both DSC and DTC but I always keep DSC on since thats with the brakes not engine power.

from what I understand DSC is on automatically. when you push the button once it activates DTC (traction control) which allows more wheel spin before acting and will not cause changes in engine power. if you hold it in for 3 or 5 seconds then both are off and the only thing left is the electronic LSD.

hope that helps and is correct. anyone?

Almost.
When you short-press the button, it de-activates traction control and DSC is set to intervene somewhat later than default (allow some rear-end slide, but no oversteer).
How else would you be able to spin the wheels, if traction CONTROL is ON ?

Because we have an open diff, if one wheel starts to spin, then all of the power is going to be routed to that wheel. The E-LSD will apply braking to that wheel and try to equalize things enough so that you have the same amount of power making it to the ground from both wheels. In a nut shell.

COBB,

Can you go into detail a little more about your "e-tuning"? When this service will be available for the n54 platform, required data for best results, turnaround time, cost, etc.?

COBB Tuning no longer provides e-tuning. We have so much R&D tuning work to do that we could not offer this service consistently and maintain the level of effort needed to develop the products.

E-tuning is a service that you can purchase from many of the pro-tuners listed in our directory. You would need to contact a tuner of your choice to find out their process and price. For BMW, this service won't be available until AccessTUNER Pro is released and tuners purchase the software.

Thanks,

Gary

agreed, i might hang onto my jb4 and trial the cobb for a while if this is what real world is going to see.

the cobb should be here today, car in for service should have back by weekend; will probably have an unsupported ROM i'm guessing since it will probably get some stupid reflash again today and the i'll install it and be able to compare at least to the jb3 (i haven't installed my jb4 yet, still on the workbench).

41hp gain is weak? How about that 100ft/lb gain!!! Keep in mind, this is just stage1 for a bone stock car! Torque is what is going to throw you back into your seat. 100ft/lbs is nothing to sneeze at, especially when all you have to do is plug the device into your car, hit a few buttons and then BAM!!! Big power!
