1 1/16 inch socket - for my car?

cleaning out glove box & found 1 1/16 inch socket; is this for something on my 128? I'm an old fart & my memory ain't what it used to be.

Hmm that is a big socket. Maybe your fan clutch, I remember needing a bigger wrench for my old e36. That is too big for lugs or spark plugs or anything I have seen in the suspension.

European cars require metric wrenches.

Thanks all; not steering wheel & not fan clutch. Think I remember now - prop bolt on my boat.

When I owned a 1968 2002 (purchased new) I needed a big socket to put on the pulley at the front of the crank in order to turn the engine to adjust the valves and set the gap on the distributor points and set the timing. I hunted all over but couldn't find the exact metric size. If my memory is correct it was a 1 1/16 socket that I finally used. Not a perfect fit but it did the job.

I doubt if many owners of 128i or 135i are adjusting their valves or points. In fact I doubt if many of us can do anything to our cars thanks to the modern complexity of cars.

Today BMW owners mainly change wheel size and exhaust systems to modify their cars. Trivial stuff.
