On-road stamp duty in NSW is calculated at:
  • 3% of the market value up to $45,000
  • 5% on the value over $45,000.
thanks for that, good thing over here we dont have to pay any tax on second hand cars

Only 17,000 km . . . asking $82,000. Is reality finally biting?

TBH, if we still had our June 2011 white 1M we would have been happy with that $. It's probably at or around the owners lease/CHP payout figure so makes sense (not cents).

thats still a very good price

with the m235i and other m cars coming out soon, the 1M will fall like a stone, could be a good time to get out

That's true. The quicker they bring out the next batch of performance models, the quicker used stock depreciates.

I'd jump at the chance to get a 1M as soon as they come anywhere near my toy budget.

Don't bet on it...low volume M cars always command a premium...the new M cars (M3/M4) are not exactly cheap and the M235i is not a full on M car.

I don't think the 1M price will move too much.

As a fellow owner, I hope you're right . . . but I'm not so confident. Reality is that in Australia the 1M wasn't low volume compared with the rest of the world. After the first 100 sold so easily BMW got greedy and brought in 301 cars . . . that turned out be about 20 more than our market really wanted . . . and 10+ cars have been sitting on carsales.com ever since (I think it peaked at 18 cars?!!).

In the US they treat the 1M like a rare collectable . . . and they still sometimes sell for more than original list price. I'm pretty sure there are more 1Ms for sale in Oz than in the USA!

M car is about Chassis, not the engine..as per Chris Harris's comment on how he sees the 1M.

The engine is also a tweaked version of the N54, not the same as a normal N54.

The 1M is a real M car is the eyes of BMW, that's good enough for me!

Karmic, DON'T fall for his BS.

People who talk up the virtues of E92's M's with a S/C for years then go buy an Audi (whist hanging around here adding tiresome and old one liners) have little cred, sorry, no cred.

skidz makes a good point.

BMW is diluting their halo brand by sticking M badges on just about everything in their range. It takes away from the rarity and the prestige of driving an M car.

Audi and MB do this to a certain extent too but BMW is really taking it to the next level.

A bit off topic too but I agree. I went to look at the new 4 series and they had these M badges on the front fender. Ugh. A bit OTT. The E82 135 was good in terms of a badging. I'm not a fan of the M135i's M badge. And they had the LCI 5er there. Again with the front fender M badge. Looks out of place...

AMG is getting up there with badges too. Audi have been doing it with S-line. I guess they're all copying each other hehe

A historical fact skid, I buy smart then turn them over when I want or need to.

Having had two 1Ms I would have thought that says a lot about how good the car was

Dump is an interesting choice of words too, I dumped a Porsche (to buy the 1M) and an M3, all in the past two years haha

Anyways, see you over at OZAudi.

so you have been talking up the 1m for years and now you 'turned em over' because you either wanted to or needed to. so by your logic that means you have no 'cred' or that you changed your mind

or is this a classic fanboi response to someone with a different opinion

In any case i am sure we can agree they are only nuts n bolts, so no need to get ya panties in a bunch, enjoy

ps for the record an M3 with a SC is an awesome piece of kit, just not for me.

not yet looking for a set of wheels atm then with a set of 295's all round should hold those hairpins ok

as for changed driving style, i think i will follow the same old method of stomp on gas, stomp on brakes, stomp on gas, stomp of brakes..........
