Turbo BRZ sounds really appealing if they ever make it, but as of now I am really set on getting a lightly used C6 Z06 next.

There is just nothing in my price range (30-40K) that gets me more interested than my 128i, could eventually look at the BRZ but I know I would miss some of the refinement and the 6 in line engine. I am only looking at new cars, no CPO so no Cayman for me. I got 2 young kids and need the back seat for occasional trips with them (most of the time we use my wife's SUV) otherwise I would probably go back to a Miata (the roadster feel and the quality of the controls could compensate the lack of power and the 6 in line)... I guess I will stick to it for a while and see what the next generation Mustang will look like or if anyone decides to launch a nice affordable RWD 2+2 coupe with a decent steering feel and a nice manual gearbox.

My short list is all cars with a redesign coming 2014 (?). I would like your opinions after owning a 1 series.

1. m235i coupe/ 228i m sport (4 cylinder) both cars slated to come to the usa
when who knows, great reviews for the M hatch, good reviews for the M
sport hatch
2. 2014 Audi TT releasing late 2014 as a 2015
3. 2014 nissan z releasing late 2014 as a 2015
4. Corvette C7 (if they finally do it correctly)

I am NOT considering the new 3/4 series, I would want something a little more focused and lighter. I drove the new BRZ and thought the current Audi TT is more to my taste.

Thanks in advance...............need to dream.
It seems everyone wants to bump up to more performance!

M2 and M135i high on my list.

The C7 forum is heating up and has a convertible and coupe C7, testing with a new 911. under 3000 pounds

I see alot of you agree with the BRZ but only in some type of STI guise.

Not too much mention of the nissan Z redesign or the Audi TT design. Interesting....................

I will add the redesign Cayman to my list. (thanks guys)

AND having owned two Miatas (NA and NB) I will see what the ND brings.

If only I had 911 money all would be solved.

I drove a TT back to back with a TTS and it was night and day. The "regular" TT was a bit of a dog, actually. I was not
fortunate enough to test a TTRS, however. I'm sure my insurance company was happy with that turn of events...

Audi TT 2.0 AWD DSG.

Review: A good looking VW GTI, with a great interior, but a little cramped.

BRZ

Review: A hard top Miata, with not as nice interior, and no matter what they say UNDERPOWERED. Nice manual!

Please remember I am coming from a 335i coupe 6mt.

Yeah, it's overweight (what vehicle isn't these days)...but the TTS flat out flies.

Curb weight of the TTS is ~3200 pounds, so it's lighter than most (all?) 1-series. The weight distribution is all wrong, and the fact that you can't get stick with it rules it out for me, but definitely not a bad car for a DD...

The big question on the C7 is does it have decent seats. Other than that, if you can live with Chevy service, it will be great.

Funnily enough I am currently driving a 2007 Porsche Boxster and thinking about a 1 series. My Boxster is just the base with a 5MT but it feels and sounds fantastic and the shift action is sublime. The downsides would be interior noise level and a very busy ride because you feel absolutely everything on the road.

I actually drove a 2010 135i this week that had 29k miles on it and was impressed with the amount of power and the smoothness of it's delivery. The car was loaded with M Sport Package, Premium Package, Cold Weather Package, etc. and had the 6MT so while it was fun it didn't shift as good as the Porsche and the road feel, while great, wasn't quite at the Porsche level either.

I will say that folks who say that the Sport Package 1 series with the run flat tires ride badly probably should not test drive a Porsche. After the Porsche, the 135i felt a little cushy to me!

I'm conflicted because the Boxster is a great vehicle and a very well built one also. I would, however, like a quieter, more refined ride without giving up performance so that's why I'm looking around and that 135i was a little rocketship.

The 4S is my favorite variant of the 993. It's amazing how well those cars hold their value too.

My next car will hopefully be a 2011 135i as a stepping stone between my Volvo and an E class coupe.
