So what does everyone with mods do ?

All of you who have, intercoolers, tunes, blow off valves, intakes, exhaust etc... what do you guys do about your warranty? When something goes wrong in your car you can't bring it to BMW? They will see all your mods and void ur warranty and than everything would be insanely expensive to fix on your car if anything goes wrong right?

I am asking cause I want to start heavily modding my car but its on a lease right now but will buy it or pay it off at end of lease but dont want to lose my warranty right now.

I have an exhaust, intake, and springs. I have taken my car in for services and such and they noticed the mods but didn't say anything. Obviously these are basic, but mods at least. Dealerships let you get away with certain things, but I have already asked about getting the JB3 and got rejected. Of course you can purchase their power kit though... I guess everyone else has a "mod friendly" dealer?? It will be interesting to see what others say.

I've taken my car in for oil changes with every mod listed in my "BMW Garage," as well as time trial #s from a trip to the drag strip on my rear 1/4 window in shoe polish AND a "Service Engine Soon" light (from o2 codes) on the dash without any issues whatsoever...

I don't recommend that everyone take their car to the dealer in this state; however, if you're cool with your dealer, don't take the car in expecting the turbos to be replaced and don't have the thing in on a bi-weekly basis, it's not ridiculous to think they'd be decent.

Now if I were taking the car in for some sort of warranty work, I'd most definitely take the appropriate mods off, so not to inconvenience them or screw myself over.

even if I took it out wouldn't it still show up when I took it in? I honestly just don't want to risk it. Maybe if I keep heckling them they will give in! But thanks for the suggestions.

Not to be a downer, but I would suggest not "heavily modding" a lease car. It is not your property, and there is no obligation to purchase it at lease end.

Even moreso, unless you are prepared to pay for repairs that may result from you modding the car you are driving, regardless if you are leasing or purchasing, I would suggest not modding. "You gotta be prepared to pay, if you play".

Have a friend who's a BMW tech at your dealership.

JB3 PnP version is just about easier to remove than the JB+ if you've got the stock airbox. Getting that thing in and out is a PITA, and the clip is pretty hard to get to as well.

At least with the JB3 you can see what you're working with. I've done them both and I'd much rather do the JB3 than deal with the TMAP sensor.
