Engaging clutch makes pop/clunk noise

similar to: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...Video-included though i haven't watched the video yet

* it happens 8/10 times, it JUST started this morning

* it only happens on clutch ENGAGE ie LIFTING the clutch pedal UP

* it happens AFTER the clutch has actually engaged ie near the TOP of the pedal travel, and doesn't seem dependent on disengage force (dropping the clutch pedal so it 'bounces' doesn't seem to make the particular noise/feel different

* i can feel the clunk through the gas pedal,

*it is audible

*clutch engage point seems unchanged, no excess slipping or pedal travel or gear grinding. SO FAR.

- i have not yet tested every condition fully, RPM dependance etc. which will happen in 7 hours after work

thanks for any suggestions

My first inclination is throwout bearing yeah.

You can feel the clunk in the loud pedal?

Since you can feel the noise in the gas pedal... I would look at the entire pedal cluster mounting. Perhaps the mounting bolts are loose. I've seen on other car makes, that sometimes the car chassis was not welded correctly in the pedal area... and it can cause some noise as the metal bulk head flexes under the load of using the clutch pedal.

Sure this wasn't the clunkiness you were referring to in that other thread?
