Dynavin D99 - Install, pics, video, and review.
(UPDATED with large size pictures) Not much to say but recently picked up the Dynavin for the e82 (135i) since I didn't have the iDrive. Waited for the D99 version instead of the D95 for some major improvements. I will post a video in a few days but here are some pictures. Will also provide some review in a few days after using it.
As you can see below, the LCD screen replaces portion of the vent: Also, the vent buttons are relocated into the unit below: Here's a picture of the vent being removed: Here is a view of the location of the bluetooth mic. The one test call I made, the other person said they can hear me fine without any issues: For the GPS unit, my installer said that putting in behind the dash and above the steering wheel would best and so that is where we hid it. Picked up GPS signal in 5 minutes, car was idle: I have three cables running into the glove box, two USB (one of which will be a wifi USB) and one ipod connector. I also have a separate ipod/iphone connector in my NEW storage bin i took out (used to be the ashtray) this is shown on the last picture (which I just edited): Here are pictures of the camera mount I purchased. Althought it said it fits e82 on eBay (as trustworthy as... ), it doesn't but luckily we did not to shave it down like others. Instead, you just need to add some cushion adhesive to it so that it will fit snug, my installer did this an made it work like stock. The parking is trigger only when I put it in reverse, no point of me turning it on and off, but you can if you plug it in correctly. Final Result: Here's a picture of the connection point with the Metra to the OEM HU. I ran a total of Two (2) speaker wires, Can Low and Can High, 12v, Ground, two (2) MOST CABLES (Opticals). You will also notice an extra yellow wire off the side of my hand which is a connection between my battery in the back for a constant hooked up to the Dynavin yellow wire to ensure I have no memory loss. Awesome. I've been waiting for you to post some review since your last thread post.
It looks good. I got a question though. What happened to vent console/buttons? The DTC, hazzard, etc. Did you relocate them? I don't see them anymore. |

Is it just me or do the pics no longer work?
EDIT: Had to login to see the pics I guess. Also, of course, this won't work with premium sound |

That is correct. Sorry about the pics, I had to upload them again because the initial sizes were too small. |

What did you do with the stock head unit? If it's totally gone out of car, how will you/your dealer update ECU? (supposedly it has to be present for that to work). Of course with the lost power nonsense of late, that may not be a bad thing

Simon, did you order the unit directly from Dynavin or from distributor here in the U.S, and if so if you don't mind providing their info. Also, I've seen that there's a Win-ce and an android version is the case on the D99.
Thanks in advance. |

As for the second question...It really depends on your needs but if you want a more conventional navigation system I suggest getting the WinCe version which is what I have. The Android version and that system relies heavily on internet and tethering. |
