Black looks best when clean, shows dings, scuffs, swirls the worst but it really rewards when you can keep it tight.

I like my black BMW, timeless color in my opinion. Even though it is pain in @#$ to keep it clean. But once it is...
P.S. Its time to wash it again...dusty |

For anyone else out there with black, have you noticed any spots on any of the panels? I've got maybe 2-3 specs that are popping through the paint, like dust or sand under the paint or possible pitting from the metal out? If I didn't know any better, I'd say it had been resprayed...but it hasn't? I thought there was only one, but after Zaino'd, I saw three more from the driver door through the front quarter...

Black looks awesome in shadows like the pics above, not in direct sunlight (unless it's freshly polished).
I haven't noticed any pitting in my paint, then again I'm probably distracted by all the light swirl marks lol.

As nice as Black looks, the BMW Jet Black paint is ridiculously soft. So not only do you have to clean it all the time as you would any black car, but no matter how hard you try it's impossible to avoid the light swirls. If I could go back.....I'd have gotten Space Grey.

SGM would hide swirls and imperfections far better than black.

In my opinion, BMW's look their best in black. Every car I've owned for about the last 15 years has been black. I know black is a pain in the a$$ to keep clean, but when it is freshly polished, its all worth it.

Having owned both Space Gray and Jet Black, I would vote for Space Gray any day of the week.
Jet Black is indeed gorgeous when clean; however, I figure that equates to about 24 days out of a full year (assuming a monthly wash, and the car only looking clean for 2 days after). I thought I could keep on top of this Jet Black, but I've actually found myself giving up on trying to keep it clean and washing it even less frequently than any other car I've owned. |
