Park away from other cars is about all you can do. It is tough when you live in the city and there is hardly any parking though.

Bimmer325: In KL? I would use the car jockey (at shopping centers) whenever I can, make sure you ask them to park up front...this would reduce the probability of door dings in tight mall parking lots. For other places, wow tough one, you'd probably have to exercise some caution...

I park no where near any other cars when I go anywhere and I park it inside the warehouse of my job durring the day. It doesn't even see the sunlight but an hour a day.

Yeah, I pay for an underground parking spot at home... and when parking in the city I always go for metered spots since they have lines and are marked pretty big in Montreal. I avoid parking on residential streets with no lines designating spots like the plague.

i always try not to park next to commerical vehicles ie vans and lorries and very old cars , if i do as far a way as possible. no offence to drivers of old cars and commerical vehicles, but a newer car driver tends to be more careful when they open their doors of their own vehicles. still get the dings, but i am sure much less than if parked anywhere.

If I have to park next to cars I will park next to other luxury cars because I figure they will be more respectful because they know what it's like to drop a chunk of change on a car.

I also agree with geeslice...I find the most expensive car and try to park next to it. It seems to be the case when others park next to mine as well. Ksfrogman, looks like a pretty good device and not expensive as well. I was thinking more of http://www.car-capsule.net/ ....just make sure that you bring your extension cord with you.

What always happens to be when I do that is when I come out the nice car is gone and some huge old car is parked in its place.

i usually park next to cars that are not dirty and parts falling apart, i like parking next to mercs bimmers and other upper class cars so i know that they would also be safe on opening doors and such. If not i park next to modded cars as for i know that they take there cars as their babies too.
I once parked next to a truck my a mall and some kid entered the truck and smacked my car, i just took off starring at him and checked if the mine was hurt and surprisingly i couldn't find any dent or scratch.

Yup! Me too, and also if nothing else is available, next a to a 4 door car, as it's doors are smaller and lessen the chance of hitting adjacent cars. Most of all, never ever take 2 parking spots or park at an angle, that seems to irritate people more then anything and cause them to purposely park next to you.
