It looks a lot better and cleaner in person. The pictures didn't turn out too well.

When I was building the system I wanted to keep everything factory, but there wasn't a good oem interface out there. I made the sacrifice to go with an aftermarket hu again. I do not have regrets because it sounds amazing.

I guess we have more performance enthusiast on this forum than things that make our bimmers look like it's a caprice.
I'm more of audio guy who likes to drive a sporty car. I also just realized it really isn't stealthy too haha

If you are an audiophile then you really had no choice. The factory system, even the premium, is not that great. IMHO that is the best looking system since no one else has done it and if they have a system, they haven't posted any pics. Props to you and besides MOST the people here are more about performance and how PRETTY the car looks..... Yuppies!! <-- alright I'm a yuppie too according to my gf

When I upgrade the audio, I'm getting a JL Cleansweep hooked to the stock head unit and then doing one for one swaps with all the speakers and a sealed 10w6 or w7 in the trunk and that'll be it.

Did you have a dash kit custom-made to accomodate the aftermarket headunit?

It sounds amazing with one of the sickest front stages I have ever heard. There is so much detail and presence with the 3 way setup. the doors will give you guys an idea of what can be done in this car as far as woofers. Enjoy!

Looks good, I had a similar kit together that I was going to use in my mini, and briefly considered it in the 135. The posters above are probably referring to the PAC SWI-X interface, which may work for you.

One note, it looks like the material they used on the pods doesn't match the doors, is it blue? I wonder if it's a vinyl/leather match issue.

May I ask why you didn't leave the stock radio/faceplate in the car and do a cleansweep using the stock radio for a clean/stock OEM look. Otherwise you picked top quality components.

Plain and simple... cleansweep flattens the EQ but there isn't any adjustability or tuning. It sucks.

The doors were made out of black vinyl... and yes the components sounds amazing! So much liveliness and detail.

OK. But a very clean system like your install should sound great flat. Anyway great choices with the components you purchased, I would pick the same speakers. Where did you get it installed? Have you ever heard Focal home speakers with top quality electronics? They sound fantastic!

I got the install done at Sound Decision in Montgomery, IL. Their works is some of the best out there. As far as the Cleansweep goes... it's a decent piece, but does not suit my hearing needs. hehe

BTW thanks for the comments!

I see the custom pods for the 6.5s but were any modifications to the doors for the 4s? when my car finally does arrive i am wanting to replace my doors with Focal 4" 2 Way Polykevlars and was wondering if there is any fitment problems because of the size difference of the magnets.

I'm sure it sounds great, but you'll probably never be able to update the software in your car again. If you have premium, you just lost BMW assist and Bluetooth.

Why is that? The OEM head unit doesn't contain the computer.

There's more than one control module in our cars. The RAD2 is just one of them, and it happens to be the master controller for the MOST bus (TCU, Sirius, CD Changer, etc.). If you remove it, Progman will not be able to find the MOST bus. If any control modules are faulty or missing, you cannot program the car.

Well, the nice thing about this group is we do see some of everything. Good on you for getting what you want. I like the native look, so went with Premium Audio to get "good enough", but I must say, nice sound is a big thing for me in a car. As long as you are getting clean sound, and not trying to make everyone at the intersection look at you ... then enjoy
