Looks great! I love the smooth contours, way better than painting the original. Will the AW hold up to the heat in the long run?

Would the gasket need changing if you took off the cover for painting?

Uhh, unless I'm missing something, there isn't a gasket...

Thanks. I have been reassured that the clear is not the part that yellows. It's the the base coat paint. If the base is well protected by the clear it should be OK for a long time. The valve cover is not much hotter than the hood itself if you think about it. Just pop the hood after driving, you can still touch the cover.

Yeah like Neil already said, no gasket. It's just 4 bolts, actually I lie, it is 6 bolts from the air filtration/shroud that covers the back 2 bolts from the cover and the 2 bolts in front. So 10 bolts total. The shroud is kinda a pain but not to bad if you know what your doing.

Okay thanks, thought there might be a sealing gasket under the cover that's all.

Its just a plastic engine cover not the actual valve cover. THOSE would have a gasket!

I like it! And was considering doing some similar stripes but didn't want to paint them on but instead use vinyl so that it is not permanent.

I really thought the white cover was too bright(and looked out of place on this car IMO) and really wanted a color I could match the side gills, mirror caps and wheels as well. This is my daily driver so crazy attention grabbing colors like orange, blue or red were out of the question for me. I found this color (Grigio Medio-Ferrari color) that is a non-metallic gray but the color is a pretty complex gray with several variances in it. I have done the everything but the wheels, I am currently looking for a set of wheels to either powder coat to match or a set of wheels I can ride while the OEM's are powder coated. Thoughts?

Metak, I like that you're playing with it! I would've probably gone black ONLY because I think that it would look GREAT against a tinted setup with a black interior. it's almost as if the mirrors would "disappear", and I think that concept would be amazing, AND different. NOT BSM, but a very non-metallic black for a flat color like white. (I like that you chose a non-metallic color for yours as well).

That said, you seem to have great taste and I like what you do to your cars (the last one, from the pictures) was amazing...and truthfully all of our cars are unique to us...we all have different styles.

What are your thoughts to my thoughts...I'm curious now.

Can't wait to see the final product! I never thought of it until your post, but I really think that an AW or VO with back mirrors would look completely badass!! Even the gray...it's a great idea.

UPDATE:
Well I know the majority of the poll voters felt it's best to leave it stock, but I really am not to fond of the stock cover. Just got the AW painted CF cover back and I installed it last night. I think it looks clean!

That looks soo goooood!
