Dent in my Coup!

Just had to have a dent removed from my beloved 125i 1 series coup! Just need some assurances that the paint job will match the factory finish? Any body else had any such work done?

It all depends on the shop doing the work. It also depends on the color. Reds are hard to match, black is not as bad. Of course, you can't just paint a small part, you need to do a whole body panel.

I ordered scratch repair paint which was absolute match to my red z4. So, color match won't be a problem.

How big was the dent? Did you try dry ice?

It was not that big to be honest but in an awkward place. Dent devils UK tried to remove it from inside but no luck so advised by BMW approved bodyshop that pulling the dent out from the outside and re-spray of area was only option?! I've seen the videos of dry ice doing the trick, but all of the experts tend to laugh it off!?

Thanks for the replies guys! My main concern is the finish as in the orange peel effect. As we all know most new cars have this due to the factory finish but local re-sprays can have different finishes? I am concerned the finish will look different on the door (where the dent is) compared to the rest of the panels??? Any views on this?

I say give it a try. If it works, great! Saved you some money and reapired your dent!

If not, how much of a loss is it? A few £'s and some time?

Wait for the outside temp to rise a bit, then try the dry ice on a warm day.

So the paint is scratched on the dent along with bent metal?

If the paint is fine get it fixed with PDR (Paintless Dent Removal); they can take out the dent and make it brand new.
