135i to 1m Conversion

hey guys,

iev been searching this thread and couldn't find the right fitment for my car. im currently running a 2008 135i. my latest mods have been the full 1m conversion.. ie. rearsubframe with M diff, rear suspension/controls arms,brakes... front control arms,upper/lower, suspension brakes and steering rack..ie.. all 1m parts have been added.( no 1M cosmetic changes have been made to the exterior of the car)

my current rims are the stock 18inch 135i. but the bigger M brakes are now rubbing to the rim and I need to upgrade to 19inch rims asap.

does anyone know the exact rims specs for this kind of setup, bearing in mind the additional width added from the M parts.

thanks
Haitham

Those wheels won't fit under standard 135i fenders...

sorry kind of off topic, but can you shed some light on the steering rack swap? parts needed? price? and opinions on how it affects the handling?

Couldn't you just do a wheel spacer to stop the rubbing?

Yeah. Me too.

But it doesn't matter how much of the suspension and running gear he's changed, there's no way that 359s will fit on a standard 135i body. The offsets are way too aggressive.

After the cosmetic modifications, sure.

Pretty sure the problem is gonna be that the inside diameter of the wheel is not enough so the barrel is making contact with the brake calipers.

Best bet would be to use the OEM front wheels from a E46 M3 CS on the front, and the OEM front wheels from a E46 M3 CSL on the rear.

Hey

Total price for the mechanical conversion was 5k( lebanon )
Im still missing the servotronic for the steering rack. Steering is heavy on low speeds.. Steering response has been increased dramatically with the 1m steering rack.. Highly reccomnd it.. Everything just feels M now.. m diff working wonders, love it..

I have no plans converting the looks of the car into 1M.. It just costs too much( 15k interior and exterior) Im enjoying the driving dynamics for now

Pics show the front wheel and caliper.. Its nt rubbing but there is vibration above 100kmph. I dont knw what the english word is for the metal squares u install on the rim when doing allignmnt. Those dont fit and are causing vibrations, thats why i need to upgrade to 19inch rims asap.

1m rims definitely don't fit stock 1m fenders. So to cope with the 1m parts and stock fenders im seeking sizes for this kind of setup.

Yes.

There's a number of people with 1 Series in UK/Europe that have fitted these 19" OEM rims, I'd link to photo's but the BabyBMW forum site is down at the moment.

Does the 1m diff bolt up to the stock 135i driveshaft or did you have to get a custom driveshaft made? Also, does anyone know if the 1m diff bolts up directly to an an otherwise stock 135i?

I guess by driveshaft you mean the propshaft....?

If so, you need to fit either a OEM 1M propshaft ........ or you need a used M3 one as well and get a custom job done from the rear part of the M3 one & the front part of the 135i one.

It sounds like the calipers are not actually hitting the wheel but were hitting the wheel weights. So now the wheel is unbalanced because you took the wheel weights off, is that correct?
I had the same issue with my stock wheels and my Stoptech calipers.
You can just get the wheel rebalanced and get them to position the weights where they won't hit the caliper.

Or you can get 18" wheels that have a lot more clearance(such as Apex), for example there is a ton of clearance with my 18" Advans.
