3 hour trip tomorrow
I have to go home for a funeral tomorrow , I just got my car 2 weeks ago 57k on it now I have a 3 hour trip.. I really don't want to drive my car and put more miles on it but my girlfriend car is an old 2004 car and we always take her car ... So I guess I'm just going to man up and take my baby.. I guess she should be ok right??

If the vehicle checks out for all fluids and has not other issues like bad tires etc. You know the normal things to check then you will likely be fine. These vehicles run strong for quite a while.
Sorry to hear about your Bro. It is always sad when you lose a loved one.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.
Yeah it should be ok? It did 57k miles before you got it, what is 200 miles more? Just let her warm up and take her for the drive. Enjoy the car, that's why you bought it right? |

Nothing worse than loosing a good friend.....
But trust your car, she is your friend she will take good care of you when you take good care of her. And odds are she will be fine. If you are super worried, get an oil change, throw in a can of Chevron FI cleaner and take the car for a wash. |

For me? 5k miles. I think BMW says 15k which sound nuts to me. But for me, 5k miles.
Give me a chance to catch up with my mechanic and his family and have the car checked out every 6 months. My mechanic also uses Elf oil which if you ask me...and this may start a shit storm...works better than what ever BMW puts in the car. |

FWIW, my parents drive 400mi round trip almost every weekend (CT to Cape Cod). My father's 4Runner has 340,000 on it and counting and my mother just replaced her Corolla with well over 200k on the clock. And sorry for your loss!

I've heard of Elf oil. There are some indie shops that use it; it seems to be well-thought of. I did read somewhere that it is also marketed under the Total label. Guess the word "Elf" could make some people think about Keebler cookies ; )

I've been in mine as much as 12 hours in a day before. I have sport seats without the lumbar support and I find them very comfortable. I hope you and your girlfriend do to.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Men can show their grief too - it's OK. Jim

I regularly take 6 hour 300-400 mile trips in my car and its only made a peep once. But it was because of a bad turbo.
So youre fine. Dont worry about it. |

I'm another who annually takes 8, 12 and 24 straight through trips. When I lived in Ohio, I drove to Texas twice a year (24 hours) and my 100K E46, 180K E36, 75K E85 all took it with EASE.
Fluids, tire pressure check (or a tire patch/goop kit with compressor if you're a worry body) and a good wash is all you need at your mileage.

I drove mine from the dealer in San Francisco back home in LA picking it up new. We bought these cars to drive them, not look at them, so it'll always be fine
Don't sweat it, dude.
