Enjoyed your article, well written and I share your sentiment about using instead of collecting. Not sure I'd want to take my baby onto salted winter roads though.
Thankfully being in the south its something I don't have to worry about it.

IEDEI, I subscribe to the theory set out by forum fellow Dee Pee that the 1M may be a subtle reminder to childhood days (its look 'n feel may to some extent dig up childhood memories gently wandering and snoozing in the sublimen of the mind). Worth to have it read by your wife too.

Back then you still yearned for 'The One'. Now you got it.

Great article!

Exactly how I feel about my 135 M Sport Edition, basically a Cdn 135is.

Makes me feel 12 years old again.

IEDEI Great article - definitely sways me away from what I've done previously which is one M car for the sunny days and one more practical BMW (still always clean and looking good though) for the rainy/snowy days.

In Europe (especially in the cities), 2 cars just isn't practical so considering just having one as a daily driver. Do you have a second car at all for road trips or weekend getaways or do you use the 1M for that too?

Why would you need anything bigger than a 1er?

We do everything in ours, it is my wife's and I's only car. Guess that is why we have over 40k on a car less than 2 years old, and I only live 5 km from work.

It is also the Ultimate weekend car.

Thanks! Over the years I've always read BMW execs saying M cars are made to be daily drivers that can be used for fun too....so I decided that's how I will use any M car I ever buy. No other car being used by us at the moment! It's basically the "do everything" car for our small growing family at the moment. I've always been a fan of 'minimalism' so it's been nice to focus on just using 1 machine for what it was made for: driving!

Just wanted to let you know that you inspired me to drive and enjoy my 2013 M3 aka frosty. Ex daily driver (A3) went to a new home earlier today. Tomorrow odo on M3 will roll over 2,000 miles mark on my way to Home Depot (...) Garage queen no more!
