thanks ucb . the 120 is my current car, the 135 is coming. i see your point. i'm trying to kill too many birds with one stone here. i certainly want to have more oversteer, which i take to mean a lower difference than 225f 255r. i would ideally also like to be able to rotate my wheels which is why i was thinking of 235s all around.
i am told that the 8.5 breytons will not fit at the front without spacers so i would need 7.5s then and the widest would then be 235s at the front. only if i forget about rotating tires could i get the 8.5s and 255s for the rear. maybe that would be less insanity and get closer to my objective of encouraging oversteer. what do you say? |

why the intense hate for the red lip-stripe?! i guess i'm alone in actually liking it. i saw a picture of an fxx with a red stripe on the wheel. didn't look so bad on it. really, it didn't.

The time attack stripes on wheels use to be a performance mod. The stripe is actually a groove cut into the lip of the wheel, which cuts about 1-2 lbs off each wheel. Then the groove is painted to a desired color. But now that it has become the in thing, people are just painting stripes on wheels, some even using vinyl tape to create the time attack look. Thats weak if you ask me.

235's are technically too wide for the front 7.5" rims. 255's on the rear are fine.

Had to take a look. Please forgive the quick and dirty PS work, but here they are with and without the red stripe. I think without is better, but it might need to be seen in person.

No red stripes look more like BMW to me.

I would start with 10mm and see what the results are. May need to adjust from there. Pretty sure that will clear the steering arm and struts, but may cause fender issues. Only way to know is try it.

Indeed! Guess you'll need to wait for someone else to take the plunge first. Isn't there anyone in Australia that sells hub-centric spacers to fit BMWs? You know you don't need to buy the extra set of 18x8.5 with 245s to do a test fit, just swap rears to front with spacers and fronts to rear and drive it around an empty parking lot. Yes, it'll look and handle goofy, do not try any high-speed cornering with the test config, but you'll find out if they fit without rubbing in normal conditions.

No date at all on those. I wouldn't be surprised if it was next spring before we see those.
