Willal was epic as always. Unfortunately my day ended up with me limping back to the pits. A lot of smoke, a misfire and oil out of the filler cap. Waiting for a diagnosis this week but it's not looking good. Turbos were already smoking and have a set of Pures and a TFT at the shop. I fear I may have done a piston or rings. If so it will be time to put some race pistons and rods in and possibly to look at doing the head too. Hold thumbs it's not as bad as I suspect.

Ran strong the other 3 runs topping out at 258km/h (6km/h faster than my Temora best) even with limp mode in 6th gear due to over boosting. Would have most certainly cracked 260km/h with full boost in 6th.

As they say, "That's racing". If you're not breaking stuff, you're not pushing hard enough.

Oh that sucks, you not running boost per gear? Or was it not fully tuned in 6th? Always hard to estimate the WGDC required to hold x psi in higher gears, you really just need to run it out and log to see. Best of luck with the build!

Logs were good, must have been something that had deteriorated over time and was the weakest piece of the puzzle. The new internals will make things much more reliable with the massive gains over stock we are now pushing.

Parts have been ordered and the motor has been dropped waiting for the next step.

Does anyone out there have any data on larger valves and potential gains up top and possible loss of low down torque? Looking at options with valves while we have her open and while we port the head.

Damn the xmas break, keen to get her back together and see what she yields and the new JB4 PI integration should make tuning much easier too.

Wow nice! Congrats!

Do you have any accompanying logs by any chance? Is this with the new manifold design?

Well done mate. Great numbers. Can we see this thing run 26-28psi soon?

Just noticed how rich your running and the HPFP seems to be coping well. What sort of fuelling upgrades are on this car?

Cheers mate! yeah Im not that keen to push it on the stock motor to 26psi, i turned it up to 23psi for 1 run it was tracking for bout 650hp before #1 coil decided to pack it in havent put it back on yet but was only ever chasing 500hp lol just got carried away!

I only have a Stage 1 walbro inline pump with meth injection and 2 x cm10 nozzles, without meth I can only run a max 17psi on an e30 mix, for 570hp

on just pump the max i run is 15psi for bout 480hp with e30 it jumps to 530hp on 15psi, most of the time it just runs around on 10psi which makes 360hp on pump

Can you run more than 15psi on pump? That's not even close to the turbo's efficiency range. Are you out of fuel at that level or another reason?

yeah could run up to 17psi with just pump after that i would need to upgrade the fuel system some more, the reason I dont run 17psi or more on pump is cause I prefer to have reliability from my engine, with how lean these engines run as a result of being direct injection, plus pump gas, an 17psi greatly increases the risk of detonation, plus my wife uses it as her daily thats why its just on 10psi most days. its just more a choice thing for me, theres guys in the states running higher boost on pump daily and most of them have shit pistons, the efficiency zone of this turbo is up round 26psi so even on 21 its still half asleep, I have no doubt I could wind the boost up further to 26 plus and make close to 700hp or more but I only ever set out to make 500hp reliably which it does on 15psi.

Hope that made sense lol

Yep understood. I just wonder if it would have been better to go with a smaller turbo for those power goals/fuel limitations. You'd have a wider power band to make the same numbers with a smaller turbo/more boost. You are looking at 650-700+ hp with this turbo on full boost it's capable of! But that is pushing the stock engine, and as you say not appropriate for the wife's daily!!

True could have done, but wanted the option to go further later if I decided too without changing the turbo plus I do have a .63 rear housing sitting there that I can change over to make it more responsive if I ever want to. also having the option to make the numbers I was chasing on lower boost than I would have need with the smaller turbo is more appealing as there is less strain on the engine.

The Hp rating of a Turbo is just a guide, for example if you change the rear housing on the gt3582r for a .82 to a 1.06 they dont change the horse power rating of it yet it will yield more top end power on the car, plus engine capacity
also plays a part you put this turbo on a 2l 4cyl running 20 psi it is unlikey to make the same power as a 3l 6cyl with that same turbo, I know people with 2ltr 4cyl running 38psi and more with this same turbo putting out over 600hp @ all 4 wheels on evos and theres even more drive train loss to consider

Looking at the gt3582r data sheets, the compressor is supposed to flow up to 64 lb / minute flow rate at around 21PSI. Or around 67 lb / min at around 28PSI.
67 lb/minute mass flow though the compressor is normally good for 670hp.
Where is the claim that the gt3582r can produce 700hp?
