128i retrofits
Is it possible to open up the headlight by baking them to add a projector and HIDS etc? Has anyone tried it? I searched and couldn't find anything

Depends on what you want. If you just want Angel Eyes, I believe there are some aftermarket kits, but professional installation is preferred. That would cost you at most 200? maybe $300 max. If you want a total conversion to the closest thing to the stock xenon headlights, you could go the route I did and get the euro spec ones from **********s.com ask for kevin, I ordered them on a Friday evening and had them tuesday night. The headlights cost about $350 but you get the clear corners, AE's and projectors. the AE's on the aftermarket headlights blow, so I am having custom led ones done. and then an hid conversion kit for the halogens would run between $100-200. the reason I don't recommend getting the hids preinstalled is because people have said they have been throwing codes. Pm me for any other help you may need. I have a 128i and have done tons of research on this. Hope this helps and goodluck

Thanks bud!! That was a fast reply. I have a friend that does headlight and he does a damn good job on them. He did my previous cars and they came out perfect. He told me that the stock 128i headlights can't be baked because resealing them is a PITA. I'm just trying to get HIDS because these stock lights blow but done properly.

Yeah you are probably looking at about 125-$200 then for an hid conversion. If your friend can get you the hid conversion kit and install it, thats probably your cheapest and best bet. Next best thing would be to go to your local aftermarket shop (not a pepboys lol) and then find out if there supplier is local. That's what I did, and saved about 75$ (original quote was$195 installed, supplier quoted 125$ installed) and am getting better hids lol. Yeah I believe bmw made it a point to make the headlights a pita to get into.

Nice. I'll have to look into them. Do you know by any chance that the stock 135 headlight fit the 128i? You think its a better route that way?

Problem with that is you can't retrofit the xenon headlights of the 135i onto the 128i's stock halogens. At least from what I know. Secondly, I don't think anyone is selling their xenons. Your other option would be to order them from bmw which would cost you about $1k+++ hence why I went with the ones I did, At most, I am going to be paying $900 for totally custom headlights that have everything I want. Granted that its a lot to just modify the look from my stock headlights, the ones you can upgrade to(when you purchase) are $900 base price and then you have to get the hids/ upgraded AEs. but, do what suits what you want. After all, at the end of the day, its what you want out of your headlights, and how much your willing to spend to get there.
