Just washed my 1M... Photos inside
Hello guys,
Just cleaned my 1M and wanted to share some photos with you, the quality is a bit crappy but took them with my phone. I think the VO looks amazing in sunny days, the colour really shows up and looks really glossy, it makes the car stand out from everything else, it gets so much attention, much more than Porsches and some Ferraris and certantly much more than any other BMW. Although in cloudy days the orange turns into a strange red which I don't like very much. Also I gotta say that these are the HARDEST wheels I've ever cleaned and I washed a lot of car already. It took me more to clean the wheels than the rest of the car, never seen anything like it, don't know if you guys agree with me or not but wanted to share the pain. Some could argue that the 1M isn't the best looking BMW but it is for sure one of the most carismatic looking BMWs ever made, I enjoy every single moment in it, if it had a larger tank and better fuel consuption it would be the perfect all in one car, in city driving (that's almost 100% of what I do) the tank get's empty really fast, I was expecting the car to be a bit more fuel efficient, other than that it's perfect, I get the adrenaline pumping every time I turn off the DSC and drive it like it's meant to be driven it feels very special and agressive, it really has a character of it's own. Note : If anyone knows how to put the photos directly into this site please tell me, for now these icons is all I can do. |

Agree on all accounts including the little tank emptying real fast in city driving and the VO (like all oranges) needing sunny days.
By the way, there was someone on another thread believing that there are no 1Ms sold in Portugal and I was telling him that there sure are a few and I was remembering probably your 1M. Portugal is a very nice country to drive a 1M

I fixed your pics. To upload photos(or even files, ie pdf's) when you go to post you have two options... "Post Quick Reply" or "Go Advanced". Select "Go Advanced"... then above where you write your text you will see the menu icons. CLICK on the paper clip and upload your photos. Make sure your photos are between 200mb and 400mb in size. (your photos were perfect in size as you can see). UPLOAD your photos and then you can insert them into the body of your text or the SW will just add them under what you post/write. Thanks it! take care, Dackel

Thanks for the all the kind replies! It's pretty cold here in Portugal too, 10º C at the moment but the day was really shiny today and I felt the need to wash it as I had some free time.
There are some 1Ms here in Portugal, past week there was a black one just parked next to mine, in my city there are at least 8 that I know of, and it's not the biggest city in Portugal. We have some nice places to drive aswell but I guess germany is better, every time I go there the highways without speed limit are just a dream come true and also you have the nordschleife! Cheers guys. |

I wish I could wash my car on the street like that. Darn Germans say its against the law over here! Its no joke. I always have to go to the self service wash pressure wash bays.

One of my favorite cars and colors of all time. There is a guy in my town that has this combo and he is a constant tease driving around town.
The VO looks hot--very nice!

nice color, great weather - my 1m is sitting in the garage until beginning of april
i wont let the salt on the street get to it for the wheels: 1 sonax extreme wheel cleaner spray spray all 4 wheels extensively (use the whole spray) let soak for about 3 minutes (after you soaked the last wheel) use presurre washer with hot water - (stick between spokes to reach inside of the wheel-barrel) your shoes and clothes will eventually get wet and it is expensive but it works - my wheels always look like new

The stuff goes for around $14-$16 per bottle and at least in my experience, by the time you make sure you get it into every nook and cranny of our curvaceously sexy wheels, you use at least if not more than half the bottle! |

That's a 1975 2.7 911 with less than 30000 klms (~18000 miles) on the clock, it drives and smells like it just came out of the factory. The other is a 2009 911 PDK. We also have a 1973 2.4T Targa and some other oldies. |

As a base routine, I always reset the odometer and average fuel consumption indicator after refueling. I rely on the odometer in combination with the analog fuel capacity meter, rather than on the range meter (OBC). My 1M averages around 12/13 liter per 100km for city driving and around 10 liter per 100 km for highway driving. Official fuel consumption figures released by BMW for the 1M:
