Put Her Away for Winter

The Z4 that is, the 1-er has blizzaks and is ready for winter duty :P

Quick detail before I put her away although with temps near 60 tomorrow I might take her out for one more spin

Thanks man, the RE-30's are 18x8.5 et42 and I use them as my street/wet setup. The sizing is actually perfect for an aggressive 135i fitment so if I ever track the 1-er maybe I'll transfer these over.

At one point I was running ARC-8's with a really aggressive offset. 17x9.5, et35 with 5mm spacer effectively making it a 30 offset. Ran 255/40-17 square Hankook RS-3's but eventually had to sell them because they wouldn't clear the BBK I picked up. I ended up getting TR MT1-R's in 17x9 et40 but here's how the Apex looked.

Your car really looks great. I had to look twice because it looks like you might have added a CF wrap to the roof when compared to your avatar photo. Or perhaps it's just the light?

The Apex looked so aggressive with all that tire showing.

Love the license plate too

Threw the E86M away last week when it snowed and ODOT threw brine and salt all over the road.

Sadly that is that time of year

Nope you're right, gloss black vinyl wrap done earlier this year. Thanks for the kind words.

Nice cars guys.

Q: How are you preparing your cars for the long sleep? Full tank of gas and over inflate your tires? Do you use a fuel stabilizer? What about the car's battery? Trickle charger? Just curious. Mine's going to sleep soon too.

Inflate tires to ~40 PSI (Modern tires can easily resist flat-spots)
Filled tank to full to avoid condensation
Battery Tender on the battery, leave the terminals connected (No reason to disconnect battery completely)
No fuel stabilizer...don't see any need.
Leave existing oil in the car, I change in the spring

Thanks Dackle, the E82 and E86 are my 2 favorite modern day BMW's... both represent a true driver's car.

Luckily the tri-state area isn't nearly as rough as where Kgolf lives so I don't need to go to such measures. Give the car a nice end of season detail, overinflate tires and that's it. We still get decent weather every so often where I can take the car for a spin just to keep the battery in good running. I don't change fluids till March when I'm ready to drive her again. For March 2014, that'll be motor oil, differential and brakes. Trans I only do every 40k, and coolant was just flushed when I did timing belt and water pump last month.
