WOW..1///M Sounds Awesome

Just posted by SCOTT on another thread..

Is it my imagination or does the 1M in this latest video actually sound like a V8.

Wow - sounds awesome. That must have been taken at that track in Spain where TG did their comparison of the M3, RS4 and C63 a few years back.

Yeah... it sounds very good, as an inline six should. But I don't think it sounds like a V8 though.

Amk, good pick up on the track!

I thought the sound was actually quite disappointing. Sounds exactly like my 135 to me. I'm still going to test drive it when it arrives but I'm thinking used dct M3 if I'm shopping in that price bracket when it arrives.

Really..

Wouldn't say disappointing..BUT then that's your opinion.

I have custom made 3 inch mid pipes with resonator and cat delete and my car sounds BEEFY to say the least...., but not as sweet sounding as the 1M in that video clip..

Definitely sounds like mine Joe with the BMW PE fitted. No doubt you miss a lot of that sound in a Vert.

On the contrary Keith, my PE sounds awsome with the roof up or down..

I was just questioning some of the posters stating that it sounded like a stock 135i..

One thing I've noticed about the N55 is that it has a throatier engine/exhaust note than the N54. There are rumours saying this is going to be a twin turbo version of the N55... maybe?

Don't forget, it is going to have a naturally deeper sound with an extra muffler (?) and quads. It's a typical sixer, i wouldn't be suprised if it's the old 3.2 inline.

It sure does have a roar to it, but the whine of the inline 6er is still there when climbing through revs.

I'm going to say it sounds like a 3.2..... Deeper, throatier and just sounds like it has more displacement.

PS - turns out my father may have traded off the Ferrari for an Aston Martin DBS. Will keep you posted

It sounds pretty great to me! Really throaty and aggressive... What do you guys (with 135is) think about it in contrast with what you have?

Sounds similar to the 135 note... maybe a bit more throatier.

It's definitely throatier and more pronounced than the twin turbo N54. I have heard the N55 is much louder at idle and you can hear the turbo spool up more than the N54 too so I expect this to sound similar but with a performance exhaust.
