Some more pictures that I gathered in the past few weeks!

Front end ripped out, sold my parts, no turning back!

Ordered some new bolts

All put back together!

Finally started her up. It's been almost 2 months!

Chen helping with the wrap! Our cars "almost" look like twins, my grey is a shade darker.

Rear bumper in!

Front wheel test fit I can definitely go wider on the rubber. Front tire is currently wider than the rear, hah!

Everything is bolted up to the car now.
It's just a matter of time the damn shop will call me to come drop the car off!! The wait is too long!!!!!!!!!

Looking sweet!

How much did it cost to program the M3 cluster? I've been wanting the M3 cluster for my DCT car ever since I sold my 1M cluster.

I programmed and coded it myself
There still needs to be sanding done as it's not a direct fit. It's worth it, I love the look of it!

Thanks Venom and fatarayy!

Little update for you guys
Car was finally dropped off at the shop last Tuesday.
Stopped by today, and the 1st side is off!
It should be done by next week or so. (hopefully)

Update for today:
It was two days since my last visit, and they've already put on both panels, weld/sealed the inner wheel well, and now it's currently bonding! From what I saw, the quality of work is superb! Everything lines up perfectly! I might be able to get the car back next week!

I was just thinking of wrapping my car in a very similar color today. I open this thread and see yours, what a coincidence. Is that Porsche gray? It looks like the color they use on the (new) GT3 RS

Fantastic stuff! I wish I was in the right financial position at the moment and we could've had both our 1ers done at the same time. Looks like a great shop and work so far.

That's Dark Gloss Grey from Avery Supreme. It's very similar to the Porsche gray, but a tad bit lighter.

Thanks! That would have been awesome!!!
If you ever do get it done, let me know, and I can refer you over to the shop!

Sorry to see this quality when doing a conversion. Why did you opt for this solution instead of the correct way of swapping the whole panel as BMW recommends (and the part is) is a mystery to me...

Looks like he is following Tun3d's method.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1058167

I believe this method is one of the best financially and gets you in and out of the shop the fastest compared to a full panel swap. Same results.

Because it was unnecessary to take apart the glass. That's just more time, money, and labor. I don't see a reason of replacing the whole panel unless it was damaged to begin with. It's still the same procedure (cut, weld, rivet bond, bondo, etc).

I absolutely agree with you. I actually didn't even bring up the question on how they will cut it. They recommended first that it'd be done this way. From what I've researched, they seemed to know what they are doing. I trust them

Anyways, here are some new updates from the shop. They are now applying bondo. After that, it's just sanding and primer, and bodywork should be complete! I am expecting to get the car back on the following Monday or Tuesday!

Maybe it is just me, but I like cars made of metal, not bondo
The rear glass can be cut out carefully and reglued... leaving you only with 3 ~7" seams instead of footlengths of bondo and sanding... My rear panel swap was done in a weekend, togehter with changing the inner fender panels. How long has it taken for you already...?

See for comparison

The end result in the approach your rather unprofessional shop took might look OK in the end, but is wrong and will not last so well. For instance - how are the welds dealt with from inside? A lot more labour and not as good as a end result. You might have saved a few bucks, true, but definitely lost in time and quality...
