I think it looks good w/ that setup. The first pic (the top one) shows 'em off pretty well. I like it.

My beast has been winterized.

A8 Titanium Gunmetal (17 x 7.5)
Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 Run Flats
225/45R-17's
TPMS

Bought them from tirerack.com. No issues with TPMS and Hunter roadforce balanced. Love the look but wish I got fatter tires on 18 x 8.5

Hey… that looks great! (and familiar!) I don't think photos do justice to the wheels… I think the wheels look better on the car in person. How do you like the Pirellis so far?

Thanks Rik. Yeah they do look a tab bit familiar. I'll give you a report when we get some snow. Ride quality is a tiny bit harsher then my OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE050A runflats.

Ha! Yaaaa, it was 75 today, don't think I need a winter set and I shant ever take my 313s off! They'll have to pry them out of my dead hands. Heck, I even have an extra one in the trunk on a new hankook ventus v12.

Although...come to think of it, it is supposed to rain a little on thanksgiving. If only they made those wheels in an 18"! =P Try to recruit bp-plickner to the roving gang of mineral greys with those wheels. Sadly, he would need a winter set in Tucson, AZ even less than me.

Interesting… I also feel that my runflat winter tires ride a bit harsher than the OEM summer runflats. I attributed my perception to the relative smooth ride of the PSSs which I've been enjoying for the last 1500 miles. In other words, I wasn't able to compare the OEMs and winters on a back-to-back basis. Did you switch directly from the OEMs to your winter tires?

"Bastard".....just kidding!!
Yes living in SoCal does have benefits but would you really want more people
living there???
The population of Ca(38M) is greater than the entire population of Canada(35M).
Canada is the 2nd largest(land mass) country in the world.

I've been to SoCal many times and I just couldn't get over the traffic.
I do like visiting.

Since I got the car in May of this year, this will be my first winter.

I just put these on today.....bought them from someone in Chicago for $400. Drag DR-34's, TPMS's and Yokohama Ice Guard IG20's. Two of the tires have another season or two left, and the other two will need replacing sooner rather than later (ordering two next week).

I went straight from my summer OEM runflats. I drove a friends 135i with your PSS's. Albeit smooth, I did not like the fluffy feel of the tires. I actually quite enjoy the Bridgestone OEM runflats and during spirited driving, I feel much more connected to the road.

That is a very interesting perspective. I actually had the same initial perception of the PSSs… by taking away some of the firmness of the OEM runflats the PSSs felt a bit less connected to the road. But after 50 miles or so, I realized that the PSSs were conforming to the road surface, while the OEM runflats were bouncing over it (pardon the exaggeration and generalization). I've got 2000 miles on the PSSs now, and without a doubt they improve the performance and drivability of our 1-ers. The best practical evidence I have is a fairly tight curve near my house that features an uneven transition onto a bridge. With the OEM runflats, the car would pitch sideways (laterally, not yaw), especially the back tires, then land and settle with a sharp impact punching into the cabin. The PSSs reduced the sideways motion and impact by 70% or so.

Speaking of my summer wheels, I've detailed the 313s and and applied 2 coats of Wheel Wax. Already looking forward to taking them back out of the basement come April...
