no wayyy. did you see that digital gauge that is a part of the air conditioning duct made for the 3 series? give it time. something better than just a disgusting pod will come down the pike.

Prototype mounted: This way you don't loose any precious air vents and have room for 2 more gauges. More info in our thread here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269184

The air vent is still fully functional with my vent gauge, you only lose the bottom couple slats... and given the large size of the 1series vents, it doesn't make much of a difference at all. ... with the 135 vent gauge you lose pretty much nothing and still have room for 3 gauges using your panel! My gauge is 100% plug and play... there is no modifications to OEM parts. I have customers who have installed the entire 335 solution, which is similar install, in literally 20 minutes! And it looks like you are using STRI gauges in your triple pod... a word of warning... make sure its the electric ones... I sold about 30 of those mechanical STRI boost gauges, and had about a 40% return rate, because they would break, lose calibration(no way to reset it), or the lights world burn out. For the sake of my customers, I vowed to never sell another. There are several threads about them on e90post. Another thing, its very unsafe to put something that moves so often, like boost, down that low... you completely remove your eyes from the road to see it. Throw 3 gauges like water temp, EGT, volts, AIT, Oil pressure, etc... stuff that doesn't move very ofter down into your triple pod... boost is much better seen closer to your line of sight. You could use a peak recall, which most modern gauges have (including mine), but even then, if you can't watch the gauge during your run, you only see the peak boost, you don't get too see what you were boosting at what engine speed. It would be much better if you focused on your own product, since you know nothing of ours. If you would like to become a vendor of our product, feel free to contact us. Thanks! well said rixster...the last place I want to look during high speed or aggressive driving is all the way down at my ash tray to find out ANY information about engine parameters.

Eyes should be kept on the road, not on your gauges - regardless if they are placed on the AC vent or ashtray pod. Yes - these are the STRI gauges pictured, we have been using them for quite some time (DSD and XLine) in or own vehicles (and a few beta testers with the gauge pods) with 0 problems to report. You'll see some upcoming reports from a couple of well-known BMW race teams using the gauges soon. Eyes should be kept on the road during your run, a quick glance at the needle position will tell exactly where you are running at all times. Since the gauges have a peak recall memory, they can be replayed immediately after your run is completed. Ashtray gauge panels will be injection molded for a perfect fit and be a perfect match for your e8x's interior. RiXst3r: Thanks for the offer, but we have no interest in digital display gauges.

I made my choice of digital based on aspects that might not be in line with track racers, but more so the average street tuner. This analog vs digital argument is beaten to death... but when I offered my first product ever, a dash pod for the 335 (hundreds of units sold), I gave EVERYONE the option of digital or analog gauges. 95% went digital. The analog gauge I offered was the stri X-line. Look around inside your bmw... 90% of the information readouts are digital, only the main cluster is analog, all secondary information is numerical/digital. That's gotta say something. (especially when trying to match an OEM look) Its unfortunate that large companies force their own opinions on their customers instead of giving them what they want. Power to the customer!!! best of luck! Hope you can play nice around here! -Rick |
