JB+ Adaption Question - INSTALLED!

Hey guys,

My JB+ is arriving today and I have read that it takes 1-2 days for the car to fully adapt to the JB+ before you can see full results. Does it take the same amount of time to reverse it (JB+ to stock)?

The reason I'm asking is I'm scheduled to dyno my car next week and wanted to get a stock run first...so I wasn't planning on installing the JB+ until after the dyno and then doing an "after" run a few days later. However I don't know if I can resist the temptation and hold off on installing the JB+ today.

If I put it in today, how many days in advance of my dyno should I pull the JB+ out?

Thanks in advance.

there's really no adaptation time when in stock mode. JB+ takes a couple days or really just a bit of driving around for normal driving. At WOT, it really only takes a couple of WOT pulls... like 3rd gear pulls...

I think I am planning on doing 2-3 runs with the JB+ then pulling it out to do 1-2 runs stock...now to decide at which JB+ setting

Look forward to the numbers! Are you leaving the JB+ at the default setting?

Got the JB+ today...

I ended up putting it in at the default setting, will bump it to 100% once my BT cable gets here...so for the dyno I am unsure as to whether I will leave it at 50% or 100%

Did a few WOT runs and WOWWWWWW This is AWESOME! I already want more power but I'm trying as hard as I can to hold it together.

My boost gauge said I hit max boost at 13.3psi...stock it said 11.1. Since stock is supposed to be at 8psi sustained, I am assuming I'm around 10psi now, which seems to be the correct amount at default setting.

The hardest part of the installation was removing the stock air box and finding the TMAP sensor. After a few frustrating attempts I accidentally broke the clip to the sensor, but according to BMS it should be fine...hopefully they're right!

You mean the ECU needs a bit adaptation with the JB+ in line, right?
I don't think the JB+ does any adaptation. I don't see that it would.
The ECU would probably take a bit of time to adapt to the added boost and such, but overall, it's not like after a couple of days there is 50% more power due to adaptation.
But then, maybe someone's dyno can show this big added power adaptation after a couple of days?

yea, usually with piggies, they're not the ones to adapt.. is the ECU itself to the added boost. Its about drivability though, not power when it comes to the adaptation..

driving patters with the added power and the DME learning what you're doing... other than that.. the power difference from your first WOT to your 3rd may be 10hp.. after that.. don't think there's much.

Just FYI too, I just had my car in for service and they scanned my car with their tool and 1) never found and codes and 2) never found the JB+ still attached. I'm running default setting.

That was brave leaving it in, especially when it only takes 20mins to remove (I do concede that it is a hassle though).

But, if they had your car on a ramp it is pretty easy to spot...

Have you ever thrown any codes on default? If so, did u already remove them with the BT tool?

Im still hesitant of whether on not to get the BT cable or not, im not installing the JB+ till im least over 1200 miles (currently at 1090). My dad does have a laptop so I would be able to go over n use his if I needed to but I dont have one myself. Just seems like it wouldnt be worth it unless id be goin over default which i wont anyways. The way I see it, if I do throw a code, ill just buy the thing then, takes a week to get to me, I fix it, end of story, then i know im actually getting a use outta the thing.

I may be wrong, but I don't think you'll know it if you throw a tuner code. Some codes will cause a CEL but not all willl. You have a $40K car and are quibbling over a couple hundred bucks for something that would be useful and could save your warranty. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Did this today

Only took me about 5 minutes to take out the JB+ now that I know what I'm doing. Just take the pump on the front right side of the engine bay (driver side) and move it to the side (takes 2 10mm sockets) and you can easily squeeze your forearm to reach the JB+. My forearms are somewhat big, but not huge and although it's an extremely tight squeeze, I was able to unplug the JB+ and plug it back in later.

Getting it on the Dyno Wednesday, so will post results then.
