Might as well get Koni shocks too?

So I got SF-71s 19s on order. Going 225/255 tires. Got the Eibach Pro-kit on order as well. From the research ive been doing, ive heard more then once that the eibach springs with the stock shocks make the car bouncy? So since im already changing my springs should I get the Koni FSD shocks to go with it? Or will the ride be way to hard with 19s and stiffer shocks and springs?

You'll want to get shocks as well, it will ride better than if you got just the springs.

The yellows are better, but if you're not an agressive driver when it comes to cornering then the FSD will be fine.

Koni's would probably be fine for DD.

As an AutoXer and Tracker, I wouldn't highly recommend them based on reliability. Took me a year to blow one of my rear struts and a lot of the guys I drive with have had similar issues with them leaking.

Your best bet is to find someone who has FSDs or Sports so you can ride in the car and feel what they're like. Otherwise research. Here are some reviews.

http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/tests/koni_fsd.jsp

For what it's worth, I have loved FSDs + BMW Performance springs for 14 track days so far. I personally am not willing to ride on Sports for street. But your preference may be different.

edit: I guess that was too strong. If FSDs didn't exist, I would use Sports.

this is a noob question for sure. But when I got my car they said it came with the "Sports package" does this mean the suspension is different?

I'll have to agree with everyone else on this one really, if you like to tinker and like to be a bit more aggressive on the street, go with the yellows. But if you're looking for something that you can "set it" and "forget it" kind of play then the FSD's are going to right up your alley. How often do you plan on going to the strip or tracking the car?

Maybe just a few times out of the year in the summer time.

Koni Sport Yellows are valved more aggressively than Koni FSD's and is will handle sport springs much better.

Koni Yellow can be install and forget, but if you ever need to adjust them, you have that option available to you. If you drage race, when you get to the drag strip, you will want to take all the rebound adjustment out to you get a quicker weight transfer to the rear of the car.

I went with the FSDs. I found a crazy deal for a set for $350 from a fellow addict member. Cant pass that up.

I've had the Eibach/FSD combo on my car for over two years now and really like it for the street. For the track I would look at the Sport Yellows or elsewhere.

Oddly the drop is more subtle with the FSDs compared to springs alone. I think the spring perch design is different on the shocks compared to OEM. My drop is 3/4 while most Eibach springs drop the car by 1 1/4 or so. Same thing happened on my Cooper S when I added the Konis to my existing lowering springs.

So your saying with the FSDs you wont get the full drop compared to if you just had the OEM shocks? Thats actually good news for me since Im getting 19s. Less rub :-)
