I'm up for that, but we might want to go west of Boston, to make it fairer for all and not forcing the people south of the city to have to drive thru the city. Also, going north of the city would add more distance to us South Shore d00ds. I'm 35 miles south of Boston, which can mean between 45 minutes, and 3 hours to get to Boston, depending on traffic.

Are there any decents parks and drives out on the 128 or 495 belt? We could also choose to hit a restaurant in lieu of a picnic/cookout.

Good idea. I'm still new to this area, but looking at the map, it looks like something at the interstection of 90 and 128 would be easily accessible to people from the north, south, in boston, etc. Anything good around there? Is that good or would further west be better? Looking at the map it looks like things open up around Weston, Natick, Wellesley, Wayland. Looks like theres some greenery, state parks, etc out that way too..

Hope this works out we gotta show the CA'ers (i'm sure you've seen pics) that we know how to have a good time over here on the East Coast too!!

I'm going to suggest a meeting spot: the old site of New England Memorial Hospital. (I realize its a bit North of Boston, But I thought i'd suggest it anyhow)

5 Woodland Road, Stoneham MA

Its right off of exit 33 of 93 north in Stoneham: its a long windy two laned road that circles a Pond. Woodland Road has 3 large parking lots on it.. one for the Flynn Ice skating rink, one for the site of the former New England Memorial Hospital which is now medical office space, and the last parking lot is for the Stone Zoo.. it should provide everyone some wide open gathering spots with a view..

I like it. I notice that up the road a little more there's parking next to the water which is really nice. If anyone have any other suggestions pls post it. If not, we will settle for this sport within the next couple days and start planning on the actual date of the meet.

Hmm, I like how this thread has taken on a life of it's own. Given the weather lately, I think waiting about 2 weeks seems to be the best idea. By then we might actually hit summer, I hope. I know people hate driving downtown, me included, so west of Boston seems to make the most sense, it's about as neutral a location as we can find. Anyone know any nice venues west of the city? I'm new around here so some suggestions would be appreciated.

Hmm, anyone ever been to Castle Island/Fort Independence Park. Just from doing a little looking I think it would be a pretty cool place to meet. I know it's as far east as possible, but it looks like it's a sweet spot with lots of parking, that's a must. Google it and take a look. Lemme know what y'all think.

I am game no matter where, I lived in Metro Boston Area 90% of my life. Klynch you can follow me out if you want. I live in Beverly also. If we do a BQ we might want to make sure that the town doesn't require Stickers to park there. I like castle island, I like Stoneham better, but I think someone mention the Natick/Framingham line that actually has a park next to a lake that might be the best.

BQ at the Parks on a weekend is gonna be tough.....unless we can get a permit
from what I heard...parks get pack quick during the warm weathers
