Pics: BMW 1 Coupé (E82) vs BMW 1 Hatch (E87)

Some photos from my BMW 1 Hatch compared with a Sparkling Graphite BMW 1 Coupé.

The Coupé really is a pleasure to drive, even with the diesel engine. Handles very well.

More pictures are available via link.

Enjoy the pics!

I am one of the few people who actually love the look of the hatch and, in some ways, I prefer the hatch to the coupe.

Nice pics! I like your smoked tails with the Sparkling Graphite along with your drop and wheels. Tastefully done.

Great pics. Thanks.

M, doesn't surprise me that you're one of the few. The hatch is nice, but IMO it has nothing for looks on the coupe.

It's really nice to see 'candid' shots on a non-135i coupe. As a likely 128i buyer, the absence of the aero kit doesn't make a bif impact for me...

Pictures are taken here in Belgium. I also did a photoshoot of the E82 only (these pics will follow soon).

I want that 123d coupe. That is without the M-sport package, right?

I like the fact that the 1 hatch looks very unique and very different. While the coupe does look very good (and, IMO, requires the M aero kit), there is no denying the "squashed 3er" look. If BMW offered the hatch in the US, it would be a tough decision (at least based on what I know right now).

The coupe wins it hands down! I've got a 116 Hatch and I'm waiting to get my 120d coupe (April). I've been test driving the 120d and 123d coupes so far, still need to do the 135!

How would you describe the power difference between the 120d and the 123d? Is it like night and day between the two, or is the 123d just incrementally better?

At first I was more interested into buying the 123d, but after driving both I decided to go with the 120d since the power difference wasn't that significant and the 120d is tad bit lighter compared to 123d. Fuel economy is also better and still the acceleration and top speed difference is too minimal that I could justify the extra cost... 123d is a good engine no doubt, but still...

Thanks groovyjay. From the rest of the reviews I've read on the 123d, that tells me a lot about how good the 120d really is!
