Looking sweet mate, always liked Lemans blue.

6 hours for bushings for a mechanic?? Takes me like 2.5-3 hours on jackstands with a home made tool. Even when i'm having problems with the tool breaking it will be 4 hours tops.

I saw the leather handbrake and shifter boot from the same seller off ebay. I ended up going Alcantara, still waiting for it to arrive and hoping it looks alright. Hard to tell from the sellers pics.

Thanks mate. I was tempted by the alcantara too but went for leather. They're so cheap it'd be easy to buy both and just switch it up! Install is fairly easy. At first I thought I might need glue but with some strategic fitment (read: it fits better starting from one corner than starting one another corner - just needs a little experimentation) go them both on fairly easily. The hardest part is unpicking the glue from the base of the stock gaitors!

Got the camera out on the weekend after a clean. Had taken any proper shots since the new wheels were fitted:

Thanks fellas.

Arthur - just keep an eye on Gumtree, I guess. New prices are ridiculous! They really suit the E87, especially the 130i with matching chrome grill and exhaust tips

Agreed.

I had CSL reps on my prev 130i, and it didn't seem to fit the bill as much. Just gotta spray heaps of WD40 to keep the dreaded brake dust away.

Been camping on gumtree and ebay. No luck thus far.

So, a few months back I purchased a near new N55 135i rear muffler in Melbourne and finally organised shipping to Sydney last week (it was chilling at my mate's place for a while...). Cost $100, courier through my in-laws cost $32 and I've just had it installed at Lambros Hi-Tec (not the cheapest but they're very convenient for me at work and do a good job).

Apologies for the crummy iPhone pics but you get the gist. Will try get some video soon. First impressions - not much different at idle or cruising around but really sings up high and there are some big pops & bangs on the overrun, which is really want I was looking for! Can't wait to drive it home tonight after work.

Do give us a sample!! It is just the rear muffler? Nothing else needs changing?

I was looking at the BMWP exhaust, but $$$ and lack of road legal-ness. If this works I might do it too!

Yeh, just the rear muffler. Bit of mucking around with moving hangers and obviously cutting/welding the pipes together. Some have cut their stock one at the centre resonator and manipulated the 135i pipe to fit but they cut mine about 250mm off the back box and joined it there.

Quite a few guys on here have done it now and I got the idea from Sina. Mine's currently still got the butterfly valve in operation so I'm interested to try the golf tee mod too to see how it sounds.

What's illegal about the BMWP exhaust?

Apparently not ADR approved.. even though BMW dealers will gladly supply and fit one lol

Yeah exactly. But also they are not cheap.

BMRAW sells a set for $1,489.00. Which is a bit dearer than I am willing to part with, especially having not heard one first hand. Haha.

Yeh, it's not cheap for a rear muffler...

Is there anyone in Sydney that has a BMWP exhaust fitted? I know the LMB 130i I looked at prior to buying mine had one. Would love to meet up and record video or my set up compared to BMWP.

I wasn't sure I'd like the black tips of the 135i exhaust on my car but as they're black chrome they still have a bit of shine to compliment the wheels so I think I'll leave them. Loving the pops and bangs on the way to work this morning!

^ yeh, I saw that. 135i backbox sounds a lot louder with custom Y-pipe so wondered what just the 135i backbox vs PE might sound like!

Would love a video of the sound. I have just picked up a 135i muffler but I'm planning on doing a custom midsection with res delete.

Quick vid from last night. Note it sounds quite loud but really, inside the car when driving it's maybe 5-10% louder than stock. Phone camera was about 1m from the exhaust and the vacuum line is still in place (ie. no golf tee mod). I will take a similar vid from the same location of my mate's stock exhaust for a direct comparison. Also note this is an N55 rear muffler, which from my understanding is slightly different/louder than an N54.

Although you said it's only 5-10% louder, it sounds way better imo. If I get annoyed with the custom midsection being too loud for daily duties and roadtrips, this would be a good option.

I'm not sure whether the exhaust I bought is off an N54 or N55...

Yeh, I really need to get a vid of a stock car from outside for comparison but inside the car it's not much louder. You're right though, the noise is way better. There's definite loud pops and bangs on the overrun and sometimes between shifts which is a new thing! Overall, it sounds great and I'm very happy (especially combined with my Injen intake, the whole car just screams up high).

I reckon custom Y-pipes/res delete will sound epic but has the potential for drone on the freeway.
