For my 1000th post, here are my dyno results:
First of all, conditions weren't as good as I expected them to be. The temps were hovering around 85 degrees with 31% humidity. The fans were a mix of household and light industrial fans so the airflow was an issue which I'm sure Chrisk can confirm. My numbers were around 320hp, 340 tq. SAE on 93 octane. I forgot to get the DRF files but will post them with SAE & STD correction once they email them to me. Had the airflow been better, I'm sure I would have been closer to 350+. The cool down time between runs was not sufficient either. The oil temps were running warmer than they should have been. Did I mention the guy who dyno'd the car works strictly on STI's?! Anyway, turns out this place is known for low numbers. As previously mentioned, a bunch of local 335i folks participated in a dyno day and just about every single one of them turned out lower than expected numbers. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...4&postcount=43 On another note, I hear there's an 80mph dyno fan in the area. I'm currently seeking this place out & will certainly run her again. |

The type of dyno can also make a difference in the numbers.
And in reality, the dragstrip is much better than the dyno because it's real world application of the car's power. So I wouldn't worry too much about lower dyno numbers. |

A guy in the Australian forums has dyno'd his JB3 install. I think there was mention of approx 50rwkw gains + 70-80nm torque? Unless I read the graph wrong. I Probably have knowing me! Anyway check it out, it's under "party time" or something.
Edit: Okay I won't be lazy! http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...t=15068&page=4 Half way down the page, I believe the red is stock and the others are the 3 trials. Peak torque: 474.8nm (85.9nm gain) Peak power: 250.5rwkw (49.8rwkw gain) |
