Smile Re-Intro (Second 135i)

Some of you may have seen that my last car was hydrolocked a few weeks ago. It had taken me a while to find that car, I absolutely loved it, and it was officially totaled Thursday with an estimated $23,000 in parts alone for repairs.

I spent the rest of the day sopping up my man-tears and searching for another. I found 2 down in North Carolina (again) and made some calls. One was a 2011 in SGM just like mine, but wasn't a true M-Sport and was a little scarred by what seemed to be a previous owner who was careless with his/her cigarettes.

The second was a carbon black 2013 that was basically fully loaded but had some minor cosmetic damages. I decided to move on the 2013 and negotiated over the phone Friday. Saturday morning I left at 6:30am and arrived at 10:15 in Raleigh to check out the car.

After several hours of looking it over and talking numbers I finally settled on it and made the purchase. I also decided to buy a warranty, which is not typical of me. It's a LIFETIME bumper to bumper warranty through Warranty Solutions, with all the stuff in this car I have no doubt I'll make my money back since I intend to keep this car till it won't move, and then do a V8 swap

Drove the car back and was home the same night by 8:30pm. The car feels fantastic and I can't wait to start making it my own.

Saying goodbye to the 2011 SGM

And hello to the 2013!

Also, I've been messing around with the iDrive system and I really don't know what everyone is complaining about. I have a Samsung Note 4 and was able to connect it and run Spotify through it via bluetooth without an issue. All song info displays on the screen and everything. And I'm pretty happy with the Harmon-Kardon system so far after a little fine-tuning following a thread on here.

Thanks! I'm very happy with it so far. I'm a bit of a tech-nut so any extra bells and whistles are welcome to me.

Give me a break. I would have kept my old car and dumped in a used engine. Likely, the old engine could have been repaired

Also there is no such thing as a life time bumper-to-bumper warranty unless it just covers the ashtrays.

And a V8? One of these:

And a V8? One of these:

The turbo was shot, engine was seized, coolant/intake system destroyed, and the clutch/DMFW was melted. Not up to those repairs, especially since I live the apartment life and don't exactly have the space to do all the work myself.

And yes, you'd think that about the warranty, but it is legitimate and that is the ONLY reason I went for it. I've had plenty of experience with aftermarket warranties, from various companies.

Welcome back!
And as for the iDrive system, you can connect to it and stream because you have a Media Combox installed. The older generation 1ers did not have that.

Now, you should come out for cruises in the DMV. I'll keep you posted

Looks great Matticus91. Glad you're still with us. Smart move passing on the smoker's car. Remnants of that shit seems to linger indefinitely in one way or another. Congrats on the new ride! Hopefully this time around you can avoid any and all tidal waves.

Thanks guys, trying to make the best out of a sad time! Took my 261's with brand new Continental DWS's on them from my 2011 and put them on the 2013 in the parking lot of my BMW dealership. Felt wrong doing it but was not about to give up those tires lol

Thanks both of you. Definitely a step up from the last one so far. I take back what I said about iDrive, getting the data to display reliably is infuriating.

Glad you stayed with a 1'er. I've got a soft spot for the SG E82, of course.

Yeah I used e92 as a base and then just fine tuned to my preferences.
