Tint a car...$295 for their midnight express tint (rrp $395). Have had it done on my BMW and girlfriends new beetle. 35% looks the biz.

Tint Professor (The Best for Lesser...) - $265 for my hatchback with the Premium 1 (Blackmetal) tint.
lifetime warranty, etc.
They even recommendeed against me tinting the sunroof as they said BMW sunroof glass is a different type of glass that is susceptible to cracking when metallic tints are put on it...(not sure how true that is though, but it made it sound like someone there is into a bit of research).

Search is your friend, there are several 'tint' threads on this forum. Here's one: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15365

That ones goes into great detail about choices, cost etc...

That brings up an interesting point, who out there has their sunroof tinted?

I'm noticing that the sunroof on the 135 is way less tinted than what was on the 120i, to the point I've actually drawn the cover shut a few times to cut the glare. I've actually being thinking about getting the sunroof tinted. Having never had the need before is the cracking issue true?

...I'm not sure, but my old car had an aftermarket sunroof (with slight tint), but it came with built-in retractable blinds (like the Mini ones) to cut the glare.
I think BMW should consider something like this.

Col Crawfords got Solarglass in Brookvale to do mine. It cost me $500 but I wasn't bothered as it was convenient. They did a good job.

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. Expecting 135i delivery any day soon. BMW Melb offered a special deal for window tinting at $865! Non-metallic(?). Called Tint-Prof and they quoted $265 (metallic). Not sure about Sydney dealers, but here the price discrepancy appears glaring.

Metallic is ok, since our cars has antenna on the roof (that little stubby thing right???).

The only problem with metallic tint is with integrated rear window antenna. You cannot listen to 774AM so it would be a disaster for me hehe.

Let me know where you do it and how it went... I will prob do the same when I get my car.

Who do you deal with @ BMW Melbourne. I just ordered mine there!

Best place to get tints

I deal with Petrolf at BMW Melb. However, it appears they have a saleswoman dedicated specifically to calling up prior to delivery and offering the tint and also their 5th dimension paint sealing package ($2580). With the tint @ $860 together they offer a package price of $2980. Have you (or anyone else here:eyebulge any feedback on that or their tint application? :eyebulge:

The tint lady is Irene... (well she coordinates the sales of tinting and many other things).

Apparently the tint is endorsed by skin and cancer council, and I don't work for them so I don't want to pay for the tint so some money goes to the cancer council LOL :biggrin:.

Petrolf... is that the big German fellow that rudely took my key off after my test drive?

I was served by Leah who assists me and my wife the best we have seen, and we have brought lots of cars of different make in last few years. Even my wife said Leah is gorgeous .

Paint sealing package is a waste of money. With nowadays paint is perfect and will not fake. It will swirl no matter what you have put in at delivery. I will not believe them one bit.

If I were to do it, I will ask final inspection to do it. BTW that is why I chose white (can't see swirl)

Yep, Irene's the tint/paint girl. And yep, Petrolf is the German chap, but he's been pretty good to us. Maybe he had a bad day? But hearing about Leah, woa, nice way to go mate

I didn't know white paint masks swirls..? Great if it does, as mine will be AW.

Anyone else out there have any experiences with BMW 'approved' tints?

Hi guys, I'm in the same boat, just brought my 135i from BMW Melbourne and can't wait for the the 'pre-delivery' sales pitch...

If the tint costs over $800 then i'll probably either live without it or go with tint-prof or tint a car.

Err, take to solace. pay $300, get it done perfectly, walk away. Nice and easy.

Or, easier again is to pay $295 at delivery time and get BMW's mob to do it who with Canterbury is just some random dude like any other solace rep.

Taka, it's David who helped you with your deal, not Leah! Leah is just a pretty face but at the end of the day David is the man.

I thought that meant to be a secret!??! Fine....

Hey for real Leah and I had nothing to do with the price, funny ..... it is quite strange because she is written as the saleperson, and the car is written under my name...

Anyway, thanks man.

I have a feeling that it is my first but not the last BMW from them. Not the same I can say about City Mazda haha.
