Malfunctioning BMW Assist

Hi!

Has anyone here experienced a BMW Assist malfunction where every time that you get the car started the system automatically calls BMW reporting that something is wrong with your vehicle?

My car experienced this several month back while I was carrying a tire and several pieces of luggage in the trunk. It pretty much placed "emergency" calls one after the other for the duration of my trip.

Well, last week I came back from a trip and as soon as I started the car at the airport the BMW Assist started to malfunction again. Now it will make one or two calls every time that I start the car. I'm taking the car in for service this morning, but I'm asking this here since this might be one of those, "can't duplicate" issues at the dealer.

Thanks for your help!

Juan

I didn't have your exact symptoms, but maybe their related.

I had a BMW assist call that I initiated, but couldn't terminate, even by shutting off the car. It finally turned off after about 45 mins. Soon after this incident the car's Bluetooth kept trying to initiate phone calls on my cell. Then my handsfree stopped working completely. The dealership traced it to a bad communication board.

Everything works great now, but it does make me worry about how expensive these and all new cars will be to maintain electronic features.

Update...

Can't believe that nobody around here has experienced any similar problems...

The dealer diagnosed the problem to the switch in the headliner console. They changed the switch yesterday and last night I went to pick up my car. I did not even made it out of their lot when the car started to call BMW Assist again...

Driving an X3 for a loaner...
