I love it. My parents are sizing up their 4th E-Class in march. I'll shoot them an email. :crosses fingers: I think that is when this baby goes on sale.

I like it... but in some angles it looks too much like the current 3 series, in others, too much like the current 7 series... I can't make up my mind!

Ugh, while I do like the overall styling and rear of the car (minus the infiniti tail lights), something about the proportions just bothers me. It's way too stretched towards the front, as if each axle should be half a foot further towards the rear and the front of the car should be two feet shorter. I do appreciate the return to the shark style that was more prominent in earlier BMWs, and the face really is quite nice (though the lower grill and fog light area could be a bit meaner looking... aero kit details I guess). I'm sure it will grow on me but still on the fence about this one. Oh, and what's with the hood? How many lines do you need? Jeez... take a cue from the 3rd/4th gen 5's, they got it right. |

The only compliment I can render is at least externally it's better looking than the E60. But that's not saying squat.
If their goal was to continue the Japanese exterior and Buick interior look they succeeded beyond their wildest imaginations. I'm probably in the minority, but I can actually remember when this company used to design beautiful cars that looked good from any angle. But it's all too obvious to me at least they are clueless as to how to pull this off using flame (phlegm?) surfacing with a Teutonic flair. I'm getting tired of having to resolve myself that I will "get used to it'". Now excuse me while I go que up 'Turning Japanese' again by the Vapors.

I agree with the above. The design looks very "Japanese," especially from the back. Looks more like a Lexus or Infiniti than a BMW. The interior looks just as bland as the current 5er, which is pretty disappointing. Audi (and even Lexus) are miles ahead of BMW now. I remember driving a 535xi loaner and thinking somebody would have to be nuts to buy it over a GS or A6 3.0T. This looks like more of the same, unfortunately.
Too bad. The old 5 series, especially the E28 and E39, were some of the best cars ever built. |

It looks really good. Usially new BMW designs take a while to grow on me, but I think I like this one.
