Heartbreaker! I hope she gets back soon. You maybe still in a frantic situation but make sure you are taking notes on the recommendations by our guys above.

So, so sorry to hear of your accident. From the photo you posted, it seems that the car took the blow pretty well. I almost got hit yesterday on my way to work...definitely shaken up from it so I can only imagine what you felt :-(

So the flat-bed came and picked up the car today. The driver from the shop was fairly confident that they could fix the car up back to 100%. In his expert opinion. He really liked the car and said something along the lines of "is this an M3 or something."
But I do think Rosa will make a full recovery. I couldn't see any damage to the frame or pillars. The car did everything was supposed to . . . the bits that should give way did, and the frame pieces appear to have been withstood the impact. As bad as it looks, I can't believe that the car would have anywhere close to 40K worth of damage for them to total it. I should know more tomorrow when the insurance people and body shop folks take a look at it. . . e |

I spoke with the body shop today. He was confident that after 3-4 weeks it would be back to 100%. They're still working on getting the door off so the insurance co. can make a complete estimate tomorrow.
On the plus side, I got my aluminum pedals in today! Maybe they'll go on the Honda I'll be driving for the next month. |

I can't believe people are praying for a car.:iono: Make better use of God's time, and pray for something worthwhile. World peace and a cure for cancer are worthy causes.
Just be thankful no one was hurt, and let insurance and the body shop do the rest. Before I get attacked, I can completely relate to the OP. I got cut off in my GTI about 2 months after I bought it. It was in the body shop for 3 months, and the total damage was over $13k. It sucked a fat one, but better the car sit out of commission than me. |

That totally sux!! Luckily, your car did its job, and protected you. Be sure to reset your trip odometer, and document the mileage on Rosa when you drop her off, and be sure that they see you do it.The guys at the body shop that fixed my baby added an extra 31 miles to the clock. You never know if there will be a bit of joyriding reminiscent of Ferris Bueller.

ouch so sorry to hear about this! looking at the pics though it looks like she faired well. yes the damage looks pretty bad but for the most part the car took the impact well and distributed the force well enoough. my thoughts are that if they had tboned you a few feet more towards the back of the car it could have been worse since they would have hit the main structure of the shell and im not sure how it would have bent out of shape the rest of the shell

ya that'd be really important.. i know my 07 mustang gt with a 30k msrp sticker and 4k miles was rated to be worth ~$13,000 by carmax because of frame damage

Rosa is back! I'll save you the gory details, but three months have passed and she's finally back. It only took 3 months (most of which was waiting for parts from Deutschland), but she's good as new.
