Question on the model number on your title

Hey guys, I just got a quick question about what some of you may or may not have on your titles. I got the 135i but on the title it says 13i. When I questioned my CA about this, I was told they could only fit 3 characters on the title under the model and will only do 13i (i would much prefer 135 over 13i if it has to be 3 characters) since the "i" designates the type of engine??? Have any of you run into this problem before or am I just getting screwed by the dealer. I don't ever recall having this issue ever before when buying other cars. I'm in Texas...dunno if that makes a difference or not.

Titles are state-specific. If you're really curious, call DMV. I'm sure they could answer your question.

P.S. I wish I had my title. BMW Financial is hanging on to it for a couple more years yet...

My Maryland title doesn't even list a model number. It says "08 BMW CN".

I would assume that the model could be determined by the VIN, so perhaps XIN should double check that.

Thanks guys, I will do some more research on this. Is there any from Texas on here that could clarify this?

Mine indicates 1351 C. I took my paperwork in to the state DMV myself. Given the experience, I'm surprised it even indicates BMW. The funny part was all I had from BMW was a certificate of manufacture and bill of sale and the DMW needed to know the odometer reading for the title which wasn't on either. Given that I wasn't taking delivery of the car for two more weeks and hadn't even seen the car yet, I didn't have a clue but we settled on 10.
