No Kobe is one of the best players ever. Of course he plays to win and to score. Being the centre of attention? Well of course, he's one of the three best players in the world.

On Jeremy Lin:

Excellent quickness and very soft hands. He has that shooter's knack of getting the ball in the bucket. He has a very quick first step when he's got the chance to set how he wants.

On the negative side he's painful to watch. A real herky jerky style of dribbling which is unfortunate in a one. Compare him keeping his dribble in a half court set with, say, a real point guard like Chris Paul or Chauncy Billups. It's partly because of his out of proportion physique with much longer torso than legs; he just looks wrong.

Coupled with small hands and legs too small for his torso, he carries the ball right to the limit of NBA referee's tolerance. I would not be surprised to see him pick up more travelling violations than the average one because of it.

But that ugly style that's so hard to watch also means he dribbles the ball relatively low to the ground (stumpy legs, small hands) which means he can be awkward to defend as long as he is allowed to carry the ball.

The NBA caoching staff are only just working out his strenghts and weaknesses so it will be interesting to see how effective he can be once defences "work him out" and once offences plan how to exploit him on the other end. Only time can tell.

He seems to be a genuinely nice person and has some brains in his head. It's good to see that in the NBA and of course the asian fan base laps it up.

I just wish he wasn't such a mouth breather. Close your piehole fer fuck's sake.

If it's ok for Kobe to open his mouth, it's ok for anyone else. I don't care how good a player is, if he isn't a team player and a good person, I'm not a fan. Take Durant for instance, one of the best players in the league (better than Kobe right now), but he is nice guy without his head in the sky...

Richard, I didn't mean Lin talks a lot, I mean his mouth hangs open all the time. He's a mouth breather.

Good analysis! Hope Lin break some more personal records in the next game.

It's a pleasure to watch a young guy who has brains, isn't in love with himself and who genuinely has joy in playing the game.

For someone who has an awkward physique, doesn't have african genetics and has small hands, his first step is fantastic to watch! He has genuine quickness and let's face it, that's what basketball is all about.

Also he is like Larry Bird .. you watch him set, you watch him fail to get more than an inch or two off the ground with his J, you watch him looking relatively slow laterally .. and yet the ball ends up in the hole! Gotta love it.

Just watched Lakers at Knicks ... Jeremy Lin lit it up for 38 points. No soft scores, fantastic performance .. brilliant shooting.

Got to love NBA ...

Crunch time! Will pau pau be deported?? Will Dwight go to NJ?? Deadline coming real soon. I have slim hopes for my Lakers since Jr Jimmy Buss has taken over the reign.

Lin has cooled off a bit, but still playing well. Not sure if Pau is going to go anywhere... Dwight I think has to go... Interesting times!

And the Knicks got rid of D'Antoni and a win!
Let's hope they make it to the playoffs with a good record!

Stephan Jackson for Spurs...DAMN! Ramon for LA, we needed a running and gunning point so not bad. I did wish Fish dogg stayed as a back up though, great leader to have in a team with his big time clutch play experience. Nothing over the top really happened, i was waiting for crazy trades including Dwight.
