Spotify solution?

Hi all,

I'm going to apologize in advance if some of these topics have been covered before, but I can't really find a definitive solution.

I just bought my 2012 135i, without iDrive. I use an iPhone 6 and heavily rely on Spotify for my music.

I'm trying to find a solution, however everything seems to have a repercussion or consequence. I know I could always use AUX, but when I get a call, it becomes an issue, and I'd LIKE for the multifunction buttons to actually work for scrolling music selections.

Now, would the infamous Y-Cable with a lightning adapter be what I need? I'm assuming I would HAVE to get the OEM one correct?

OR, I'm even contemplating picking up an old iPod Touch 3rd generation, and using that if that would be a solution.

Either way, I'm coming to the conclusion that I'll need the OEM Y-Cable. Is that true?

I tired to hook my iPhone6 via the included OEM Y-Cable with my 2011 135i. It would not work for whatever reason.

I purchased a Viseoo Bluetooth adapter for BMW, which has the appropriate y-cable built into the unit and it works very well. My only complaint is that sometimes the car forgets that I was on the "ipod" and I have to select it and once in a blue moon the phone won't link up with the adapter and I have to recycle bluetooth on the phone.

I have not used it specifically with spoitfy but with other streaming/music applications is has worked without issue. If it doesn't work Amazon has a pretty good return policy.

When you're using this the bluetooth to the phone continues to work so you can still get calls via the car's interface. You just have to set bluetooth up for both devices on the phone.

Not sure if things are different with the iPhone 5 but I am just using the standard lightning connector to plug in via the USB port to use Spotify. Spotify is also setup as a BMW app so you can download the BMW Connected app. I can use iDrive to navigate all my playlists.

From post #1: I just bought my 2012 135i, without iDrive.

Plus, in the non-iDrive cars, the bluetooth is limited to phone/calling only - no media/music. Which is stupid, but whatever. So it goes with BMW sometimes.

Finally came in the mail!

Exactly what I needed, works flawlessly and the audio quality is still great! Plus the song info is still displayed on the radio and the music can be controlled form the headunit or steering wheel. Very pleased with this device!

Hi guys,

I'm looking for the exact same solution, but I only have a business headunit with out an USB connection.
Is there something available for the business unit or can I retro frit a profesional head unit and USB connection with no further issues? Besides coding maybe?

I think people over at e90post have done a retrofit from business to professional.

This might be one of them http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...4#post16792244

You'll definitely need to do some coding and possibly upgrading software.

If you have the aux line in jack I have a iSimple BT adapter that will work for streaming via BT. I have it listed for sale in the classifieds.

Its the iSimple BT ISBTU52
