My 1st and 2nd AutoX in my 128i
My 128 is bone stock with the sport package. I even ran the RFT's that came with it (with 25,000 miles on them).
I had previously autoX'ed my STI close to 10 times. I felt fast in that car and was constantly improving. My first event in the 128i, was kind of dissapointing. the car felt slippery, my confidence in the brakes and steering dropped to 10% and I had a serious problem later in the day of pushing into the reverse gate while traveling down to 2nd. although i tried to find 128 tire pressures on here, no one posted any that i could find and I ended up at 38 psi. I've always missed my STI, but after that event I actually regretted getting rid of it. my 2nd autoX in two weeks was significantly better. even though the chalk on the tires at 38 was reading like i had enough pressure, I decided to try and run 40-41 in all 4. Holy crap what a difference. I really thnk this is why people hate on the RFT's so much: they cant read the tires like on a traditional tire. Handling was better, and even braking increased my confidence. I managed to shave 4 seconds between my first and best run and. I still would like to get real performance non-rfts, but thats still in the air. overall i was really happy with the car's and my performance I think the car could be a really competative car in AutoX and is a blast to drive. I sold the STI because i stopped racing for almost 3 years, but now i'm tempted to see if i can afford to swap into a 135i... to help other 128i drivers find this post: stock AutoX 128 tire pressure. |

When my car was stock, I was running about 38psi fronts, 40-41 psi rears. Pirelli PZero Nero's 205 fronts, 225 backs.
Now it is whole different ball game.

I ran similar pressure on an identical setup, and noticed an abnormal high wear on the outside edge of the fronts. But if i wear out the pzeros too soon, it's not a big deal, i'm looking forward to non-rft's and an alignment.
