Base 2010 stereo, adding factory tweeters
I didn't come across the correct information. So I'm posting this for accuracy for the 2010 135i with the base stereo.
I wanted to add the stock tweeters. From what I'd found/read the factory door speakers were not compatible with the factory tweeters; missing the connection. This is not true. The 2010 base system has the correct connection for the factory tweeters. It's plug and play. *edit* Seems that bass has diminished some. Also the amp in the radio overheats after about a half hour at high volume. Moderate/normal volume no heat issues. Last edited by iminhell1; 03-19-2016 at 02:27 AM.. |

Bummer, I bet it was nice to find that they plugged in. Unfortunately you've likely changed the impedance to the amp and so any filters, crossovers, power levels, and so on have changed too. Apparently not for the better.
I'll bet that if you unplug them you'll be back to where you started. Time for Plan B. |

I have the mids that go with the Hi-Fi tweeters.
Next nice day I'll swap and see what happens. The Hi-Fi mids don't have the low pass filter on them, and according to the audio guides that is correct. The only reason I didn't put them in was the magnet is tiny on them. I didn't think they were correct,,, rears maybe. But far as I can tell they are actually fronts. I'll get pictures so you can see the difference. But I think I'll have to do a HK swap eventually. I just don't need to spend that money. Suspension/performance is my priority. |
