Clutch break in?

I got my 1 back in may and had a question about the clutch. After break in does the clutch normally feel very soft?:iono: Its weird because the clutch would always grab with a vengence but now it feels like my old 92 318. I am just making sure it the way it should feel after break in or this is abnormal?:iono:My 1 has roughly 7,500 miles on it and did not start feeling really soft until the last 300 miles or so.

Clutch break-in according to the manual is 300 miles/500 km. While I suppose you can argue that the entire car breaks in over time, the clutch action has never changed significantly in any car I've owned unless there was a problem.

If something has significantly changed in the last few hundred miles, have the dealer take a look at it. That's what those warranties are for.

I'm afraid so as there's been no change in the clutch feel in 12,000 miles on my 128i.

Let us know how it turns out.

The Clutch does get a little softer. Remember, the temperature outside also effects this. If it is very cold, your clutch will be stiffer (atleast for the first 30 minutes after start up).

hahaha its 30-35 degees Fahrenheit outside and its soft from the start... it sucks because im not nights right now so its gonna be really hard to take my car to the dealer... i know something is wrong because it took 300 miles for it to change drastically.. but i cant say my clutch has felt right all along... i thought it was just how the car felt with the CDV but when i got into my gfs brothers car the clutch felt freakin amazing it felt so awsome it was unreal... i hope when i get my car to the dealer they find out something was wrong and after it feel like my gfs brothers car

Ya take it in. It is covered under warranty. There is another thread here somewhere that is somewhat related. Some one else had a clutch just burn out on the 1, out of no where.
